ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Jennifer I am so sorry to hear that! I had the same thing happen to me. I am not having any flower girls because all 4 of my cousins got pregnant and are all due last week in October first two weeks in November :(

I feel for you a lot more though that it is your sister. I would be happy and mad to. Don't worry it will all work out and she will be there by your side.

So weird question but is anyone worried about guests seeing you before the wedding when your taking pictures lol I know totally irrational of me but I cant remember spots of where to go. Hopefully our photog will know.

Any recommendations from previous brides or those that just went on a site visit?

Hi Ladies just to let you know I just heard from my non-resort WC about using US dollars and here is what she said,

"Hi Jess,

Yes, there is a new law in Mexico about the us dollars so as soon as you get in the country you can go to a bank and change some dollars for pesos.  There is a certain amount of money to exchange per day per person."

Hey Girls!

I am an official Royal - Playa del Carmen bride.  Our date is set for Feb 12, 2011.  This planning thread has been incredibly helpful and I am more at ease knowing you all have been through the same issues I am currently in.

We started off really sketchy booking the date and time on the website (confirmation given) and $200 PAID....a year in advance to only recently find out they never got our request.  They said it was a computer glitch.  After all that drama, wanting us to change locations, being far from understanding....we just decided to change the time.  They offered us hot appetisers though.....how nice of them huh?? smile41.gif

We have finally gotten everything squared away, and now with our third wedding corrdinator....(apparantly a lot were let go) things seem to be more under control.

The outside vendor fee of $350 is just outrageous!  I really hope that I can get around this one.  Anyone else getting married in February?

Jennifer, sorry to hear about your situation. Weddings are quite the rollercoaster as is, and throwing these new mixed emotions in can be quite stressful. I'm sure it'll all work out in the end, just come on here to vent, and know that we're sending good vibes and happy thoughts your way!

Jess, thanks for letting us know what you've heard about the currency there. Hmmm....i'm guessing it's a good idea to exchange some pesos prior to leaving for purchases of knick knacks. I heard from my WC, Ana, that final payment is still in USD and pesos can be exchanged at the resort too (don't know if there's a daily limit). Also going bring credit card in case.

kshows03, welcome! yes, that vendor fee is outrageous, although I've heard of $500 even at other resorts. i believe some ladies mentioned there are a few loopholes on makeup artists, photogs and videographers coming in 3 hours prior but not being able to walk out and pick up your own fresh flowers. hope you enjoy the rest of your planning experience as February is just around the corner!

I feel the same lol. I even wrote on the itinerary on my website that guests should arrive at the gazebo b/t 3:45-4:00 because wedding party would be taking pictures prior lol.

Wondering how long WC's are taking getting back to you on basecamp. My WC is Elsa and it has been weeks. It even says on the side where the recent activity is that she hasn't logged in, in like 22 days. My wedding is not till April but it just seems like a long time to wait to get a response. Soon going to call....seems that will be the only way to get quick responses. What have your guys experiences been like with your WC's?

Photography....

Has anyone used the people that The Royal reccomends and are somehwhat includeded in the package?  I think pictures are so important and would love to use Elizabeth Medina, but almost $5,000 for the smallest package is a little crazy in my opinion.

Anyone have any great other options?

Hola ladies!  I just wanted to drop in and say hi.  So, I thought I posted a realllly long reply on here on Thursday, 9/16/10, but it looks like it never showed up.  Oh well.

I'v been trying to keep with all the posts, but work (and life!) has been so crazy!

Anyways, everyone has been a ton of help as always!  I love checking out the updates and new ideas.  Welcome to the new brides!

This peso thing kind of worries me.  It's just another thing unexperienced travelers (my parents!) will have to worry about.  Oh well they need to experience Mexico once in their lifetime, right?!

Jennifer - I feel for you!  That would drive me bananas!!!  :(  Sorry and I hope everything works out!

As for my planning...We took our Engagement pics almost 3 weeks ago and now we are just waiting to receive them so we can order our STD magnets.

I am in a friend's wedding in October in Puerto Morelos, so we are going to fit in a site visit at the Royal while we are there!  I cannot wait!  I'll try to post some pictures if I can figure out how to upload them by then!

Has anyone made a spreadsheet comparing the Luxury package to any of the other packages?  I need to do it, I just can't seem to get my booty in gear and make a spreadsheet!  How time consuming is it?

Happy planning everyone!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
