ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Whoa, lots to catch up on. Jess, I'll be emailing you, wow!!

Hi Averie! I'm getting married the 10th of October! I'll fill you in when we get back. Welcome to the board, it's amazing what you find out on here, I would have been lost without it!

Just never thought we'd get married there!! We are also timeshare/members there.... which should help our family/close friends out who might otherwise not be able to afford it. Nevertheless, we are getting some resistance from family members. Grr  :)

Anyway, I wanted to introduce myself and ask:

Is there anyone on here getting married at the Royal Playa next Oct 2011? Or has anyone on here gotten married in Oct of a previous year? Just wondering about the weather during that time of year...

I haven't read this entire thread yet, but I will....

then I'll have more questions!

:) Thanks!

Nice move, I thought about doing the same thing and wish I would have!!!

We actually switched from the luxury to the free package because when we added things back on that we thought were important it ended up being cheaper even including the extra cost of the 5 nights in the nicer suite - mostly because the free package includes a minister/officiant. As far as I know the only other one that includes a minister if if you do the Catholic one at the Royal in Cancun...

Also, I just reserved my DJ the other day and DJ Doremixx is who is being reserved for us....we just said we wanted the DJ and as far as I know he is the "house DJ"

Does anyone know if I use an outside florist and have someone meet him to pick up the bouquets will I still be charged a vendor fee? I was thinking about sending 2 of the groomsmen to meet him outside the hotel but I don't know if I would still have to pay the fee.

Hey I have a recommendation from Lady Di, PM me and I'll send it to you!

What do any of you know about Maria Maria? I want some kind of rehearsal but think it's TOTAL BS to have to pay extra, UGH! I have some more questions if any of you can help me out. :)

Do we have to provide them with a script for the ceremony? Are you all having your BM's and GM's stand the whole time (not that it's very long anyways) or are you providing them chairs?

We have a violinist playing during the ceremony, do I tell them what songs I want (especially down the aisle) or do they just play what they play?

Thanks ladies. I'm 3 weeks out and going a little NUTS!

You can change the script in either ceremony, however it would have to be very short in the legal one and without mention of God. In the symbolic one, you can bring your own script, however they do have scripts handy for both civil and symbolic...this stupid thing won't let me attach right now, so i'll just paste:

My wedding party will stand the whole time.

These are the responses I got from Elsa (WC) about the soloist:

2. do we get to pick what they play? NO, each musician has his own repertoire and all play NOT ALWAYS THE SAME. WHAT IS TRADITIONAL HOW: THE CANNON IN D MAJOR OR WEDDING MARCH play it BUT ALL ELSE IS THE FREE WILL OF THE MUSICIAN IN QUESTION, OBVIOUSLY ROMANTIC MUSIC AND QUIET

3. is there a list of music they know how to play?

THE SAME ANSWER WITH THE QUESTION  # 2

I was wondering the same. I hear this florist is good: http://www.mayadisenofloral.com.mx/ . Who are you using/thinking of using, Jenny?

In 2008 I got 1 day of rain and a little over overcast and one perfect day (m-f). Last year I think I got 2-3 days of rain, however it only lasts a couple of hours and then beautiful perfect sunshine. I still thoroughly enjoyed it though because the rain clears quickly and it is a lot less expensive (and obviously will be for your guests). The only thing I don't like is the pools are really cold at that time of year if they are not heated (and they aren't at the Royal)- I will be dealing with this because I'm having mine in November this year, but the price really outweighs everything else and like i said, the rain is fleeting.

I hope this helps!

this does help a lot! thank you!!

i dont mind if it rains actually.. i just dont want there to be a hurricane and for everyone to be stuck at their airports.. not able to fly haha. i'm thinking worst case scenario. but ya i've been there in august before too and it did rain but briefly and there were no major hurricanes.

I had the same question I think Lady Di used them, but you can't view anything on their website. I wanted to use an outside vendor and have someone pick them up too but my WC isn't getting back to me :'(

How do I find out his prices? Also, how do we get them on to the resort without them charging a fee? Do they say anything about that? I'm sure I can have someone meet him the day of if need be.

Thanks!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
