I asked my WC about the no charge if less than 3 hours and she said that the $350 vendor fee will be charged if the vendor is not a guest of the resort.

I was told that white linens and lights under the tables are standard. Keep in mind though that the lights won't show on top of the table only the sides (wood top). If you want the lights underneath to show on top you would have to use a vendor to bring in acrylic tables, I don't think The Royal offers them but I could be wrong (I haven't asked about it).

$350?!! OMG!! That is ridiculous. I was under the impression that it was $100. They really make you use their services or get penalized. So the vendor has to be a guest and remain less than three hours. That's really irritating. Are you using their makeup and hair services as well? Glad to know your WC has been super communicative. Thanks for the info!!

You're welcome!! I've been scouring tons of threads and websites too. All those areas are beautiful. I really like the setup of Xel-Ha. There is an entrance fee to the park. I tried to find on the INAH website the permits but I couldn't find anything. I would love to take pics at Tulum. I've recognized the Gran Cenote in a few photos. Can't wait!!

If you booked your wedding awhile back then $100 but for the more recent brides $350.  I agree ridiculous!

If the vendor is a guest then no fees or time restrictions that I know of. My videographer is staying at the Gran the night of the wedding I was told no fee.

I'm going to be using Fernando Fuentes.  The $350 is killing me, but we went from Luxury Pkg, which the Spazul hair/makeup is included to Free pkg and even with the $350 fee we are saving money. Granted we are spending more on our room, haha.

Are you saving a lot going from the Luxury package to the free one? Are you having a private reception? I keep going back and forth with myself about downgrading from the Luxury but I am just unsure. I guess I should do some sort of spreadsheet and compare rates for things and see.

Brides, Does anyone know if there is a wedding web cam for guest at home to watch?  I thought I read something about this a while ago on this thread but can't find it.  If anyone has this link I would really appreciate if you could repost it.

Thanks

Hi,

Yes there is a web cam, it is $350. You have to request it through your WC, the only thing is it is difficult to see because it is pretty far away.

Here is the link

We did the same thing!! We actually figured out that even with the room upgrade it is still cheaper for us to do the free and do everything ala carte....

and as far as the $350...I know its a lot and it is irritating sometimes, but I know that at some resorts it is $500+!!

I was very happy with my SpaAzul makeup.  I have to be honest, though, I put on make up like a 4-year-old with a crayon, so anyone doing makeup on me is going to show some great results!  I will post my engagement photos when they get back.  Ivan is so sweet, he's going to rush a few in the next week so we can get our Save-The-Dates out soooooon!

Our photo session was awesome, Ivan and his wife were a ton of fun to work with and he has a great eye for color and beauty, as well as a great sense of humor.  We definitely took some funny photos along the way.

Also, the Blue Parrot is AWESOME!!!  Ryan and I scouted it out last night as a possible "post reception" venue and we had a BLAST.  Forget what I said about "low key beach town feel."  It was definitely a club hopping party along Calle 12, which is just a few blocks from the resort and perpendicular to Avenida 5.  There were many clubs blasting music and competing for our business, and lots of people out and about.  Also, the Blue Parrot hosts daily fire shows M-W at 12:00 midnight and 11 and 1 Th-Fri, which will definitely appeal to the old folks.  SO fun.  The music was hoppin, top 40 danceable stuff.  Everyone was having a great time.  We promised the waiter outside we'd buy a ton of drinks and didn't have to pay the $10 cover.  CocoBongo's is nearby too, and they advertise bottle service, for folks looking to reserve something in advance online.  I might see if Blue Parrot can do something similar and get back to you all!

Also, ladies...trendy flat sandals are all the rage here, paired with cute, clubby cotton dresses or miniskirts.  I am barely seeing anyone in heels.  I think between the sand and the brick streets, its just not what anyone wants to deal with.  Now if I could only get my 6'8" fiance and his very large family to shrink a bit...

Hi Jennifer! So glad you had a great time at the Royal. Thanks for posting about the Blue Parrot. I am looking for a place to have my welcome dinner off the resort and now I have added the Blue Parrot to my list of places.  Did you order any food from the restaurant next door? I looked at the menu and the place looks pretty good.  How far is it from the Royal?  Do you think it would be a good place for an early dinner. Sorry for all of the questions.

I'll have to check with my WC about it. I'm praying it's $100. Might as well learn how much everything is up front before I start booking outside vendors. That's so awesome you were able to do the free wedding. I'm pretty happy with the Luxury package but I wish I heard better comments about SpaAzul so I can use their services. LOL..I'm debating on hair. I hear they do decent hair. Awesome!! I'm thinking about using Fernando Fuentes as well. Would you mind sharing what he quoted you? I'm thinking of having him do makeup/hair for myself, my bridal party, Mom and MIL. With the  amount of money these resorts make, you'd think they would give us some freebies. huh.gif The joys of wedding planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
