Hi Ladies,

I read through all of the older messages and feel pretty caught up. Regarding a couple of questions and Zulma's responses. I am copying and pasting the answers:

2.) Is there a policy that 4 people can come to the room three hours before the wedding to help the bride get ready with no vendor's fee? Please clarify.   Yes, 4 real resorts guests, they have to be guests of one of our properties         3.)  Lastly, do you have a pic of the standard dance floor for beach receptions that you can send?   Iâ€m sending you the dance floor we used before this is white , but is coming a new one and is dark brown, as soon as we have it Iâ€ll take a picture to send it to you.   Also, I'm thinking about shipping my stuff, too. Since we went to American from Mexicana, we only get one bag now instead of 2 per person. That means I can't even give my BMs bags. That sucks! For pics, we are going with  Victor Herrera, for hair I'm going with Doranna De Bortoli and for makeup I'm going with Adrianne from Studio H/Waves.

Is there an extra fee for lights under the table? I was thinking of getting table runners, but was worried they would interfere with the ambient lighting underneath. I asked Lady Di, but she said they didnt put the lights underneath for hers...hmm, is this because she was in the garden? What gives?

Hi JYD,

I am having Fernando Fuentes come to my room to do hair and make-up. I was told he could be on my "list" of people that could come 3 hours before the wedding without a fee. His website is http://the-makeup-pros.com/. I was originally going to walk to the MAC store on 5th, but when I called to make an appointment they said I had to purchase approximately $70 in product for the trial and then $110 on the day of. I'd rather spend that money sitting in my room sipping a little bubbly in the A/C. Let me know if you want his email.

Jen

Jen - thanks for letting me know. I had no idea that I would need to purchase additional makeup. WOW! I agree- rather spend that money on something else. I'll definitely check out Fernando. Are you having him do your wedding parties makeup and hair? Have you set up a trial with Fernando yet? I'd love to see pics if he has. cheers.gif

Does anyone want to participate in a Royal brides "something borrowed"? I know there is a general thread out there, but I know you ladies best. If so, let's throw out some ideas lol....small starfish pin (that can be hidden or worn on display), or maybe an inexpensive bouquet jewel or charm? here is an example:

I was very happy with my SpaAzul makeup.  I have to be honest, though, I put on make up like a 4-year-old with a crayon, so anyone doing makeup on me is going to show some great results!  I will post my engagement photos when they get back.  Ivan is so sweet, he's going to rush a few in the next week so we can get our Save-The-Dates out soooooon!

Our photo session was awesome, Ivan and his wife were a ton of fun to work with and he has a great eye for color and beauty, as well as a great sense of humor.  We definitely took some funny photos along the way.

Also, the Blue Parrot is AWESOME!!!  Ryan and I scouted it out last night as a possible "post reception" venue and we had a BLAST.  Forget what I said about "low key beach town feel."  It was definitely a club hopping party along Calle 12, which is just a few blocks from the resort and perpendicular to Avenida 5.  There were many clubs blasting music and competing for our business, and lots of people out and about.  Also, the Blue Parrot hosts daily fire shows M-W at 12:00 midnight and 11 and 1 Th-Fri, which will definitely appeal to the old folks.  SO fun.  The music was hoppin, top 40 danceable stuff.  Everyone was having a great time.  We promised the waiter outside we'd buy a ton of drinks and didn't have to pay the $10 cover.  CocoBongo's is nearby too, and they advertise bottle service, for folks looking to reserve something in advance online.  I might see if Blue Parrot can do something similar and get back to you all!

Also, ladies...trendy flat sandals are all the rage here, paired with cute, clubby cotton dresses or miniskirts.  I am barely seeing anyone in heels.  I think between the sand and the brick streets, its just not what anyone wants to deal with.  Now if I could only get my 6'8" fiance and his very large family to shrink a bit...

Jennifer - Thanks for sharing so much from your visit. This has been super helpful. This makes me super excited for our site visit next year. Can't wait to check out all these places.

We were just down there for our site visit Saturday - Friday and went walking on 5th a couple nights during the week. I was busy, but not super crazy & much calmer than I expected. We didn't go in to any of the restaurants or bars since we were just walking around checking things out, but it didn't seem much different during the week vs. the weekend (maybe just slightly)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
