ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

A couple of you guys replied back to me when I asked if there was a phone number to SPAzul at Royal. Thank you!

My question now is...the only number I've recieved is an international number, which I'm not about to call and get charged crazy money just to set up hair apts...I was thinking of calling to resorts front desk, which I would imagine there is an 800 to, and asking to be transfered to the Spa? Has anyone tried this? I'm really nervous to wait until the day before the wedding when the bridesmaids get down there to make appts. The wedding is at 2 so we would need 6 appts to be done by 2....and if they already have other appts booked we will be SOL!! : )

Hi Risa,

I also have Maritza as my WC. She quoted me $700 for the light up dance floor and $850 for a DJ! I have the luxury package too. So if I read your post correctly I should either be getting the light up dance floor for free with my package or it should come with the DJ. I guess I better email Maritza and ask her to give me the same deal!

Has anyone else been given different information about the dance floor? I want to get my facts straight before I email Maritza.

Thanks ladies!

My WC is Maritza. She has been pretty good so far. She responds back within a few days usually. My TA is also copied on all the emails and has an account set up under my wedding with the basecamp site, so she sees all the communication and will follow up if Maritza takes too long to respond. For the most part I think it is working out well but I am still about 10 months out...

What package are going with?

I also booked my flights on Mexicana. When I found out that they had cancelled all flights I went ahead and booked myself on another airline. I didn't even wait to hear back from my TA (I think she must be the same as some of your girls on here - she was on vacation all last week).  I was afraid that the prices would keep going up before things got worked out with Mexicana and my TA got back to me. My mom is also booked on Mexicana and she's freaking out!!

I know exactly who you are talking about and I have the same TA. I just had to write an e-mail to her boss because we still have not gotten an answer. Do we need to call our credit companies and dispute the charges or did the tour operators agree to just let us pay the difference in flights.

I had asked for a list with all the information we need. I still have not received it. I am actually completely shocked that as a travel agent you would not have this information on hand. I am talking about ticket numbers and reservation codes. All my guests keep calling me and emailing me and I don't have an answer. Not only do I not have an answer but I e-mailed my TA at 8:44am this morning and I still have not heard anything.

I am alarmed that I even had to be the one to call my TA. Even in her absence as a travel agency they should have had another agent e-mail me and all my guests letting us know what has happened and that they are working on it. In order to keep everyone calm you would hope that we would all get continous updates. Other wise what is the point of going through a travel agent if they can't do anything different than lets say Expedia etc. during the times when you most need them.

By the way American Airlines is offering a special 20% discount to Mexicana flyers who are traveling between now and October 28th.

GRRRRRR WTF???

I'm so sorry you're going through this Jess. I wish we could help out. I can't believe your TA (who is also my TA) isn't replying, this is where they need to step in and assist, this is the essence of a TA. Please let us know when you hear back from her and what gets decided. Did you buy travel insurance? Did you call the airline? I called Orbitz and the airline and Orbitz had already reassigned me. Maybe going straight to the airline will help? Ugh I hate that you're going through this. :(

Shitty. I have the same TA, but I received a little packet months ago with mock tickets with the reservation code or whatever and itinerary + luggage tags. Did you not get that stuff? I looked at ll that stuff and it didnt say Mexicana on it anywhere, thank God. Jess, keep us informed and I agree there should be backups (hell, I have one at my job)

I agree, I can't believe she isn't on top of that, she's always been so wonderful and such a big help. I'm sure once she gets caught up from being gone she'll do everything she can!

WTF Mexiana Airlines? Go to h*ll!!

Hi Reid!

Trust me I had to do some back and forth about this until my TA from Beach Bum Vacations emailed me and said  "Great news, they will give you the basic dance floor for free if you do not want to hire the DJ"

Now, what the basic dance floor is exactly, I do not know. I don't know if it is a light up one or not. At this point, I don't really care because I just needed a dance floor and was not going to pay that kind of money to rent one. We will have lighting there so I am not too worried about it. I am just happy that they finally got it for me! There is a post on here a few pages back that is from a bride who said that she got the dance floor for free without asking for it and it was light up. Hopefully that is what we will get!

I took Maritza some "looking into" to come to that answer. I would say that you know of several ladies who got a basic dance floor to use for free and that is what you would like. If they try to dance around it then suggest that you speak to someone higher up than her. I didn't have to go that far since my TA handled it. Are you going through a TA at all?

Let me know how it goes!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
