ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

I freaked out too, we have about 8 guests who booked with Mexicana vacations.  I added a help page on my website, instructions on how to apply for their refund and how to rebook, I thought I would share if it's helpful....took me an hour on the phone and internet to figure out the info:   http://www.marielymanny.com/Site/MEXICANA.html

So just found out Mexicana officially suspended all flights in definetly. I am not going to lie I am totally freaking out. My TA is away on vacation until Monday. I am so afraid we a. won't get our money back b. even if we do everyone will need to rebook flights, flights are three times more than what everyone paid back in Feb. I have 85 guests all flying Mexicana.

Anyone is the same boat and has gotten any direction on what to do?

Jess who did you book through? I am on the phone with Orbitz and they already rescheduled our flight with Mexicana. However I wasn't a fan of the flight times so I'm trying to change them. But I'm sure whoever you booked through will work with you through this.

I emailed Jill in a panic. Poor girl, I can't leave her alone while on vacation!! :)

Hi ladies!!

Just got back from my site visit!! It was absolutely wonderful...that being said, anyone who can't make it down for one should not worry at all since everything I would have asked I knew already from this forum! Also, it seems that the onsite WCs can't actually answer any scheduling or logistical questions because Lilia (who was very nice and seemed very on top of things) just kept telling telling me that I needed to ask Claudy (my main WC). I am still working on setting up picture albums etc, but will post a link for photobucket or something similar.  The resort was actually pretty quite right now, (Lilia told us 78% full when we met with her on Wed) and we actually only saw one wedding during our whole week there (Sat-Fri)....but it was beautiful :-) Very strange going down there knowing that the next time I go it will be for the wedding!!

So happy to have found these forums!  You ladies have been life-saving!  <3

To answer your question about the Gran, the pier (which is much less prominent than I expected) is basically the only thing separating the two resorts, and since the beach is public you can absolutely hang out on the beach all together. Also, while you need a guest pass for anything that is outside of wedding related events, your guests wouldn't need anything for wedding events themselves. Something to be aware of, just because even if you have a 30 minute break between events things could get complicated if you have Gran guests.

Sorry I've been M.I.A.; I've been really busy with work and wedding planning.

My TA called me this morning and told me about Mexicana which is the airline that we were flying. She switched our flights to Jet Blue going and AA coming back and we are actually saving almost $300! The flight times are pretty much the same times so we are ok with the change but none the less it was un-needed stress! Only issue is the my TA said that I need to file a complaint with my cc company to get my money back from Mexicana.

Hope it works out for everyone else who booked with them :)

Yes, I am doing the luxury package. After much persistence, I did find out that they will give me the basic dance floor for free! Hooray!!

My WC is Maritza. She has been pretty good so far. She responds back within a few days usually. My TA is also copied on all the emails and has an account set up under my wedding with the basecamp site, so she sees all the communication and will follow up if Maritza takes too long to respond. For the most part I think it is working out well but I am still about 10 months out...

What package are going with?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
