ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Apparently my WC Maritza keeps telling me that I have to hire the DJ to get the dance floor. I am trying to have my travel agent who did all the booking and who supposedly has a "great relationship with the resort" to see if she can get a different answer or find out what she can do. They quoted me $700 just for the dance floor rental!!!

If I can rent the floor for $400 I will consider that over the $700 rental fee or even the $850 DJ fee.

Can you send me that checklist you have that says that by any chance?

Thanks for the info cheesy.gif

I think you should check that out! I believe you can actually just rent the light up dance floor without having to hire the entire DJ service and pay almost 900!! I myselft do not plan on using a DJ because they do provide you with a sound system in which you can plug in your ipod to. I've seen pics of the speakers and they are pretty big! i Have pics if you want to see them! I would ask your WC what the cost of the floor alone might be........Even tho their checklist says 600 for the floor which is crazy! But i got this price sheet from a girl on here for dj Mannia's services and the price for a 12x12 light up floor was 400.......which is better than what the resort would charge you!

Hi Jes,

I got mine from Staples (in Canada), but I found them on the US site too:

http://www.staples.com/Avery-Vinyl-Badge-Holder-Vertical-4-x-3/product_491455?cmArea=SEARCH

I've also seen similar "badge holders" at Wal-Mart....maybe check Target too?

Hope that helps!

Hello ladies!  Finally got through reading all 600+ pages on this post.  Very informative!

I'm also getting married at the Royal, on December 12, 2010.  And..I just booked the place this week so, yeah, I have under four months to plan this thing!

So far the hardest part is done, which was picking a place.  I just ordered card samples that should be coming in Monday and as soon as I choose one of the three I picked, it's off to the printers and ready to be mailed out.  Currently I'm building the website but still waiting to hear back from my Royal WC.  I was trying to see if anyone else has her but didn't see her name anywhere on this thread.  Her name is Katia, and so far she's been okay but I'm still waiting to hear details on how to go about getting group rates from her.  She said she'd send me a price sheet for both Royal and Gran Porto, but nothing yet.

As for the Gran Porto, I have a feeling a lot of my guests will be staying there too.  I know Gran guests need a day pass to go to Royal (unless they've an upgraded room) but what about Royal guests going to Gran Porto?  And don't the two share a beach?  I am thinking it mighth be possible to hang out in the beach area without a problem.

So happy to have found these forums!  You ladies have been life-saving!  <3

Thank you Rosie!

So just found out Mexicana officially suspended all flights in definetly. I am not going to lie I am totally freaking out. My TA is away on vacation until Monday. I am so afraid we a. won't get our money back b. even if we do everyone will need to rebook flights, flights are three times more than what everyone paid back in Feb. I have 85 guests all flying Mexicana.

Anyone is the same boat and has gotten any direction on what to do?

Jesmcan-

I am so sorry to hear that! When we first got word about Mexicana we changed carriers because our tickets were booked through American with Mexicana operating the flight. The process was actually very seamless and we did not incur any additional charges as they were taken care of. Fingers crossed for you! Good luck!!

Hello ladies, I know I haven't been on in a while, but I decided to check in for old times sake. We got married on June 18 and I noticed some were questioning the light up dance floor. We did NOT pay for the dance floor, but when we got to the reception site it was there. I asked my WC (Denys) and she told me that it was included. From what I gathered this is the standard dance floor now. We were never charged for it, either. Hope this helps!

Hi! I have Katia as my WC and i've been working with her for about 2 months now and she has be AWESOME!! her work schedule is i believe mon-sat 2-10pm (cancun time) if you stay on top of her you will get responses....i think it's best if you call her....i always do....and whenever i need something she sends it to me without a problem. I haven's spoken to her since like Tuesday but everytime i have a question she's there. I even called her one day and she wasn't in yet and i left my number and i got a call right when she got in! I hope you have good luck with her seeing as how your wedding is in Dec!! My wedding is actually in June 21, 2011 and I am getting married at The Royal in Cancun....Royal guests can go to the sister hotel whenever they please!!! I was staying at The Royal in Cancun this past June and we went to visit our friends next door whenever we wanted! It comes with paying more money to stay there! I am sure it is the same with the Royal in Playa. Hope this helps!! xo

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
