ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

So I know many of you didn't/aren't using the SPAzul services for hair and make up....but for any of you that did or plan to...

I asked Ana (WC) to set up appts now, and she said she was able to. So I let her know I have myself and 6 others to set up for appts for the day of the wedding...some want hair/make up some just hair appts. She said she would get them set up and would add it to my final wedding payment due...I told her that would be fine for my own, but I don't want to be adding 6 others to my final wedding payment. I know they can just give me the money, but I've been screwed over way too many times with money during this wedding I don't want to stress it!

So she said they can set up the appt when they get there and pay that day for the appt when they get there....but to know it is subject to availability. And if I change my mind to let her know and she can set up prepaid appts?

I would like my bridesmaids and mother, MIL to get their appts set up now so they don't miss out. Has anyone set up appts in advance and told the SPAzul that you will pay day of the appt? It's crazy to me that in order to book in advance it has to get added to my total due for final payment!

I dunno, girl, personally I wouldn't be down for that added stress. IMHO, I would schedule just you (and maybe your mom) and let the girls fend for themselves lol. I'm sure they can handle an updo or whatever you want themselves, and if they want a special 'do, then they can schedule an appointment themselves. (again, just my opinion lol....or maybe i'm being this way cuz i'm PMS'ing bah hahaha)

Hi,

I got married at the Royal in Playa Memorial Day weekend 2010. I am more than happy to share my experience and give any and all tips or advice I can.

Let me just say the wedding was AMAZING!! wouldnt change a thing if I could. We arrived on Wednesday before the wedding, most guests arrived Thursday or Friday so Thursday night we did a welcome cocktail hour (included in our package) at the beach at the Gran Porto (about 1/2 of our guests were staying there, plus there were some kids, so this way everyone could come) and it was so much better than i expected. They had beautiful white linen and food (which i didnt expect) and the service was remarkable, everyone had a drink at all times! after we all walked into town and went to a fun bar without a problem (there were like 20 of us) but they were welcoming and easy. Friday night was our rehearsal dinner which we did at a local restaurant (Negrosal) and was affordable and great, they even provided us with a DJ for no extra charge!

Our wedding planner was Zulma, she is fantastic, always available and smiling!

I have pictures, plus I had amazing save the dates, invitations, and itineraries I would be happy to share if anyone is interested, all affordable, mexican and fun! and most available online.

Hope I can help!

Denise

i agree with Lisa, having to chase people for money afterwards is added stress that can be avoided. i was in the same boat about the spa appts ( and i also have Ana) but then I talked to the girls and they'll either to their own or take their chances. having an appt for yourself and/or your mom and/or FMIL set up would be a good idea, beyond that, let the girls decide for themselves and you won't have to stress because they made the decision themselves.

money makes people funny, better talk it out or have them pay you before you put it on your final payment...

I agree you don't needed any added stress. Myself and brides maids are having hair and make up being done in my parents room but I have a lot of other people coming who do want their make up and hair done at Spazul. So I sent out the list with pricing plus the phone number and fax. Spazul told me everyone can call individually and pay a $10 deposit to hold their appointment and pay in full on the day. I would suggest doing that. That way you know everyone has their appointment and are responsible for their own payment.

Question about makeup:  Any reason folks are choosing outside vendors over Sapzul?  Ryan and I are doing a site visit in a few weeks, so I was going to try and schedule a trial at the spa then, but maybe someone out there has info I don;t?

Oh yeah, anyone here getting married over Labor Day weekend?  Thats when we'll be doing a site visit, so we'll be sure to wish you well while we're there!

Congrats Jenn!!! I know how much you wanted that chapel. Now your day is guaranteed

Sorry if any of you ladies answered this question before, but does anyone know how exchange privileges work at the Gran Porto.  I am getting married at the Royal but some of my guests are staying at the Gran.  Can they go to the Royal bars and restaurants whenever they want or hang out with us at the Royal pool?

Thanks so much!  - D

Hi N&J,

In order for Gran Porto guests to be able to go to the Royal they have to pay for a pass. Last I knew a 9am to 5pm it was $85 a pass. I am can't remember what the night time was but I know that all Gran Porto guests have to be gone by 11pm.

Now of course on the day of the wedding they don't have to pay but they can only arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony.

See Ana did not tell me they can call and set up their own appt!! I'm going to have them call on their own and if they don't call and set it up then it's on them...i feel like I'm babysitting 2 of my bridesmaids because its like they cant do anything for themselves and they still haven't gotten passports or paid for their trip!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
