Are you shipping items down?

Thanks, Jess :-). I am trying to decide that right now...and kinda freaking out lol. I know I want to carry my dress as my carry-on, and I just learned that AA will allow two checked bags for free if you booked before May of this year (so that helps)...i just hope it's enough to carry my OOT crap + favors + decorations + ceremony accessories--- oy veh! I figure if i dont shipt the stuff, i should probably put that sign on top so they won't think i'm trying to sell anything (when they see all the travel med kits and favors)

Do you know how early/late we should ship to resort? Did you do that?

Ya I know it is a lot of stuff. I think putting the note is a really good idea and don't forget also copies of the receipts. Even if you are not shipping them I would do that still.

No I am not shipping anything down. I have heard from others that usually you want do send things 8 weeks before. Just in case something happens. I have heard from some things arrived no problem and from others that the items never made it. I personally decided not to risk it. My bridesmaids are all helping me and taking one bag so it wont cost anything extra. Time to delegate some duties girl! lol

Hi,

I got married at the Royal in Playa Memorial Day weekend 2010. I am more than happy to share my experience and give any and all tips or advice I can.

Let me just say the wedding was AMAZING!! wouldnt change a thing if I could. We arrived on Wednesday before the wedding, most guests arrived Thursday or Friday so Thursday night we did a welcome cocktail hour (included in our package) at the beach at the Gran Porto (about 1/2 of our guests were staying there, plus there were some kids, so this way everyone could come) and it was so much better than i expected. They had beautiful white linen and food (which i didnt expect) and the service was remarkable, everyone had a drink at all times! after we all walked into town and went to a fun bar without a problem (there were like 20 of us) but they were welcoming and easy. Friday night was our rehearsal dinner which we did at a local restaurant (Negrosal) and was affordable and great, they even provided us with a DJ for no extra charge!

Our wedding planner was Zulma, she is fantastic, always available and smiling!

I have pictures, plus I had amazing save the dates, invitations, and itineraries I would be happy to share if anyone is interested, all affordable, mexican and fun! and most available online.

Hope I can help!

Denise

Sarah - OMG, the orchid was my EXACT COLOR INSPIRATION!!!! That's how I chose my colors. I love this orchid, so I chose my wedding colors from this flower. And I'm using it as my bouquet (along w/ green hydrangea and some cream cala lily)

My wedding shoes (the fancy ones, not the flip flops that I'll wear on the beach) are dark fuschia :) And my dress is like a champagne color. It's called "Light Gold"...it's warm and beautiful and very flattering for my skin tone.

Have fun planning! I'll post pics when I have them :)

And, of course... welcome & congrats to Heidi!!

I'm just curious, but are you ladies putting the shot glasses in your OOT bags or are these going to be favors or gifts?  They look like such fun!

Hi Ladies!! We booked our wedding a few months ago and now I am ready to start planning.  Our wedding is in April and I see on the forum that people have basecamps set up.  Can anyone tell me more about this? I remember seeing a 1-800# posted a while ago but I was lazy and never called. Is that how you go about getting a Wedding Planner?

Thanks - Dee. aka the Procrastinating Bride.

Hey Wedding Buddy!  I wanted to get 10.10.10, but it was taken :) (by you and probably several others) What a great date ;)  I'm the day after you, on 10.11.10

I'll be right after you!

I'm putting together my OOT bags but I have a problem, because I only have 10 guests.  All the great advice for bags and items come IN BULK!!!!

So these great bags I was going to buy, come in a minimum of 25. So I have to pay for extra bags :(  I'm doing a custom bag, like this one:

http://myweddingreceptionideas.com/frosted_gift_bags.asp

In Clear color. Then using my wedding colors with Tissue Paper (Spring Green, Ivory & Dark Fuschia). Inside, I'll have a little "goodie kit":  I had custom labels/stickers created to put on travel sized bottles, which I'll put SunScreen inside.  Then I may include stuff like: chapstick, alka-seltzer, aspirin, gum (might do custom label) etc.  And I may include a pair of cheap rubber flip flops. Still working on it!

LOL that's the same one I got and I'm doing the same with the tissue. I love the size ...not too big so you dont have to pack it full of stuff

I finally heard back from Angie with some questions I had.  Here are some of the answers...

Chivari Chairs - they don't have them

Hot Apps for Cocktail Hour - they don't do that anymore

"Cocktail Hour" - $10 for cold canapes, champagne, open bar (2010 pricing)

Entrees - You have to tell them exactly who is eating each and you also have to denote on place cards

Chairs - Standard set up is white covers with white sashes (included in price)

Tables - round, seat max 8 people

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
