Misglave - THANK YOU for the Etsy tip!  I didn't see any sand ceremony stuff there when I looked earlier, but I'll check again.

Luna - my WC said we just need to give them the vows/script for the Officiant to read, or if you two are reading it.  And bring the "stuff" - like the vases, the colored sand, the ribbon for hand ceremony etc.

Just tell them what you want to do and when, and they do it.  You can communicate it earlier, but they will take care of it, probably when you meet them onsite, just before the wedding.

SAND CEREMONY QUESTION - When , in the ceremonly, are people doing it? We are doing a symbolic, simple short ceremony (non-catholic, non-denominational) and I'm not sure "when" the sand ceremony should happen.  Any tips?

I ordered my sand ceremony kit from foreverwed.com.  I haven't received it yet, but it looks really nice - they seem to have a good number of options.

I think we're planning to do the sand ceremony portion in the middle.  We're doing a symbolic ceremony too (no-denominational).  The officiant will give the welcome/introduction, we'll do our vows and then a close friend is going to come up front and do the sand ceremony speech and then we'll pour the sand.  Then we'll have the officiant give a little closing speech and introduce us as husband and wife.

We haven't quite figured out what we want everyone to say.  Does anyone have the standard symbolic ceremony script?  My WC sent me the one for the civil ceremony.

i may be in the minority on this....but over the past few weeks my wedding coordinator has been great! i have been rather busy with my sister's wedding that is in a few weeks so i haven't had a chance to concentrate on my own too much (which is in nov) but my coordinator has emailed me a few times, out of the blue, to ask me if i have any questions or anything she can help me with! then i have sent a few emails to her....and it took a day or two to respond to me, but i was fine with that.  i know how busy they are, and just look at how many of us there are on this board, think of the # who aren't here! and dealing with all their demands etc.  i know people have had problems, at the beginning of my planning i lost my ceremony time and confusion with my dj/confirmations etc, but i'm trying to not let things bother me and everything seems to be going great! i don't want to jinx myself here....but i just don't want people to think EVERYONE has these problems, you know? i've also been dealing with catamaya, and although they are very accommodating etc, they take up to a week to respond.  i think that is just how things go down there, you know? anyways, i just wanted to throw that out there :) i'm getting very excited and so are all my guests, and am very confident the wedding with be great! and it's a destination wedding, i wanted it to be more relaxed, stressfree etc, and so far i don't have too many complaints! my biggest complaint is we are getting more guests booked then we expected....so our per person charges are whats killing us, but how can i really be upset when we have such a great turn out? just gotta go with the flow and be excited for your perfect day! :)

i have to agree that while some people obviously have had issues, it's all been pretty good for me.  it was difficult at first to sort everything out & get info from my WC.  But then it's gotten better.  And i just got reassigned to Ana Perez and she is really really great & helpful.  and quick to respond.

just throwing this out there so people don't get scared away!

my friend attended a wedding at The Royal and he said it was the best wedding he'd ever been to.

good luck ladies!!!!

Question about makeup:  Any reason folks are choosing outside vendors over Sapzul?  Ryan and I are doing a site visit in a few weeks, so I was going to try and schedule a trial at the spa then, but maybe someone out there has info I don;t?

Oh yeah, anyone here getting married over Labor Day weekend?  Thats when we'll be doing a site visit, so we'll be sure to wish you well while we're there!

i believe that i've seen several people use SpaAzul & that is my plan as well.  I am doing a trial to make sure there are no surprises.

great!!! this is so great to hear a positive review about hair & makeup at SpaAzul.

when you start considering outside vendor fees, the cost of getting hair & makeup done can be a bit looney.  and that's coming from a girl who gets her hair done at nyc salons!

welcome to all the new ladies & thanks again to everyone who has posted their info & comments & reviews

I'm using them too!  I haven't heard anything bad about them and the prices are very reasonable.  I'm planning on taking a few pictures of the type of hair & makeup I want too.

How long before the ceremony is good to get Hair & Makeup done?  I'm getting married at 5, with pics starting at 4.  Is 1:00 a good time to start??

I think noon is a safer bet...  I was going to do 1 pm too so I could lay out and enjoy the day.  Once you wake up that morning, you will learn real quick it isn't just any regular day, you will be nervous and excited to get all dolled up.  After we were all done at the spa, all of the girls hung out in my mom's room with the AC cranked up and ordered room service and had mimosa's while getting dressed and ready for the wedding..  Plus, what if the spa is running behind or something..yu would rather get done early than late, ya know?

Very true!  It would be nice to get everything done and be able to relax with the girls instead of potentially stressing if it takes a while.

Thanks!

Yay!  That's crazy I think we're all at 4pm but just 3 days in a row!  I think RB's is 4pm on the beach too.  As long as my crazy group of family isn't pulling me in a million directions I'd love to sneak a peak at ya'lls weddings as well!  I'm in the gazebo at 4 on the 9th ;)  What are your colors?  RB said her peeps will have Pink tumblers.

I'll look for the fun bunch w/ the turqoise tumblers. also - since we arrive the morning of the 8th, I'll be able to see your wedding, too :) And then we can watch RBs :)

You on the beach or gazebo or garden?  I'll be on the beach at 4pm on 10/11/10

We only have 8 guests TOTAL...we were going to elope but the parental units, siblings and a couple friends wanted to come vacation :)   Having a huge wedding reception at home, on 10/23....invited 125 peeps! That is WAY more planning than this little wedding on the beach!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
