Ya it is right around the corner and in walking distance.. You come out of the resort take a left onto 5th ave and its about two stores down. They have Tiffanys in there and the MAC store up the whole top floor. You take a cool elevator right up.

Thanks for posting this!

I am not sure if it affects all airlines, but we were originally booked with American Airlines, but Mexicana was the operating carrier. The FAA no longer allows this. I found info on the American Airlines website. Plus to top it off Mexicana filed for Bankruptcy protection. So my fabulous direct flight to Cancun is no longer. I was going to drive to LA so I would have a direct flight, but now there is no point for me to make the drive for a flight I could get in Vegas although AA is being difficult about switching the departing cities....annoying!!!

OMG!!!! That means this will affect us. Our flight is booked the same way and so many of our guests!!! Do you have the link that you read this at? If so, can you post it? Can you change it with no fee? how does this work? Thanks

and here is the pricing that was given to me when I was there last November for my site visit

Trial For Bride $70 and $100 for the actual day of the wedding

Bride Maid's $70 each

Jess, do you remember if this was the same price Di paid to have them come to her room?

Haven't been on in a long time, and I am pages and pages behind, lol!!

1.  Jescman,

Do you have Fernando Fuentes, contact info?  Do we need to pay the vendor fee for him?

I  am stil contemplating whether I should use SpaAzul as it is included in my package.  Has anyone used them?

2.  I wanted to arrange a meet/greet/welcome dinner.  I think it's absolutely the stupidist thing that I have to pay for this (if I do it at a restaraunt at the resort).  Has anyone been dealing with the same thing?

3.  If I am not having a wedding party, do I still need to do a wedding rehersal?

When do we have to have our food selection, etc, sent in by?  My wedding is November 16, 2010, but not all my guests have booked yet, and will likely not book until beg-mid Sept, so I don't want to send it in until I have a final number.

As usual...thanks gals, you guys rock!

To answer #2, I think that we are going to have a Welcome cocktail at the lobby bar.

I can't believe we still haven't heard from Zulma or corporate after the email I sent. This WC business at The Royal is for the birds! I hope the newer brides have better experiences! Welcome Ladies!

This is call from the US. I was told that if he is only there for 3 hours I do not have to pay the vendor fee for him. However like with everything with the Royal I know of other people who were charged.

2. How many guests are you having? If it is just a small group I would suggest meet in the lobby and go to Maria Maria's. They have large long tables. You could have someone get there a bit early and request them to put some tables together for you. However I do have to warn you if it is more than 15 people I was told we would be charged.

3. Small or large wedding party they don't do rehearsal's is what I was told. Although in my case I have a big group so I think I will just arrange our own rehearsal and see how that goes lol.

4. Some girls have not even given their food selection until the day they meet with the WC. I would suggest though to send it in with your final check list 60 says before. In case there are an issues or discrepancys you can iron them out prior to getting there and than having to deal with it when you get there.

I have almost all 85 of our guests on Mexicana as well. I contacted Jill my TA yesterday. She said as of right now they are honoring all previous flights. They have just stopped selling any more tickets for now. She said she would keep me posted if any more information comes about.

I don't remember what Di paid no but I am pretty sure it was more than that only because she has to come from Cancun. In general I noticed the make up artists charge more to come to your room. I was able to find Norma's e-mail in case you need it. nor_maccancun@hotmail.com

I asked my WC about this a couple weeks back and she said the standard dance floor is the wood one.

I emailed her last night with a list of questions regarding cocktail hour, chairs, etc.  So I'll you you ladies posted when I heat back.

This is what I found on the American Airlines website. We were booked through American although it was being operated by Mexicana.

"Update On Mexico Codeshare Bookings

Following the Federal Aviation Administration's decision on July 30 to revise the rating of Mexico's civil aviation authority, U.S. airlines are prohibited from offering codeshare service on any Mexican airline. As a result, we are advising our customers who have already purchased an American Airlines codeshare flight operated by Mexicana that they will be re-ticketed as Mexicana passengers on the same itineraries or they have the option to receive a refund for their purchased flight. Mexicana codeshare flights operated by American or American Eagle are not affected by the FAA's decision.

We are in the process of contacting customers confirmed on these flights to assist with re-accommodation. "

We were re-booked on an American Airlines flight handled by our TA. My mom booked through American Airlines online and they contacted her via email and changed her flight.

Hope this helps!

#1 - I'm planning on using SpaZul for hair and makeup.  I'm going to my salon here at home for hair trials and will take pictures to bring with me.  For make-up, Sephora now offers special occasion makeovers - you get about an hour with a makeup artist and you can try different looks (there is a $50 min. purchase).  I'll take pictures and write down the colors and try to get SpaZul to match it.  Still debating on whether I want to go through a trial with SpaZul a few days before the wedding...

#2 - we're doing our welcome party on the beach at the Gran Porto (some of our guests are staying there).  Its $30 per person for open bar and hot & cold hors d'oeuvres for 2 hours.  We originally wanted to do a buffet on the beach, but we thought $50 per person was too much.

I had to have my food selection in 45 days before (my wedding is 9/17) along with final payment.

You'll have to let me know how this goes for you! I was definitely debating between using an outside company vs. using SpaZul, but I think it would be nice not to have to walk and I definitely don't want to pay the vendor fee! Thats a great idea to do the trials at home and take pics!

Hi Ladies!

I have a question about welcome parties and whatnot....

If everyone is staying at an all inclusive, how come there are charges for open bar and food service?  Did anyone just arrange for folks to have dinner around the same time etc?  Is this a dumb question?

I think there is a charge because of the wait staff and set up and break down requires for a private event. You can try and arrange everyone to meet at a restaurant but I think if there are more than 15 people they won't let you do it. It really depends on how many people are going to be with you. We are doing a 3 hour private reception for our welcome party and are paying $30 pp for open bar and a 3 course dinner.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
