ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hi jlb when is your wedding?

I think the beach at the Porto is nicer. How large is your wedding? that is the thing I don't know how I would feel about another wedding right next to me. I think it would depend how large your wedding is and the one right next to you. Just to be safe if it were me I would do it  at the Gran. I thought the beach there was very beautiful.

Have a question for everyone.  Did ya'll reserve your date and location before you booked your room and package?  For everyone that has been to the Royal, which location is better, the beachside at pelicanos or the gazebo.  We have a choice between both right now.  Or did ya'll make a site visit first before deciding on everything?  Did ya'll talk to someone in reservations to get a group rate or went through a travel agent?

Does anyone have elizabeth medina's email?  I filled out the request on the website and haven't heard back from her?

Has anyone seen the ballrooms?  My fiancee does not want to be on the beach for the wedding reception.  Do you have to purchase decorations through the resort or outside company to decorate the ballrooms.

If anyone has done a site visit, do they give you any incentives back when you book your wedding?  upgrades, etc?

Thanks for all the advice from previous postings, I sat for two days and read and took notes.  so helpful!

We booked our time and location first and then booked our rooms and travel information. We went through a travel agent which has prooved to be much easier. It allowed us to offer that option to our guests. Some have used and some have gone through other sites.

We are getting married in the gazebo with the reception on the beach by the gazebo. I have been to a wedding on the beach by Pelicano's which was beautiful. Their reception was moved to Pelicanos because it had gotten rained out earlier in the day.

I too had difficulty contacting Elizabeth Medina. I tried numerous times and never received a response, so I gave up and am going with someone else.

I'm sorry I don't have answers for the rest of your questions, but happy planning!

Msgalve - that is just unacceptable. Usually she responds to be in 3 days its been almost a week so I am juts going to call and I suggest you do the same. Especially since your info is not on the site. I would call to confirm everything over the phone have her send you an email after to confirm everything you just talked about and have the site be updated.

Jenny - thank you I think it will be really nice to split it up I agree.

Hi Heidi! We booked our wedding before we booked our rooms.  Also, we did individual bookings. The agents on here get rave reviews if you are looking for one. I heard that Pelican's beach is nicer and bigger. Elizabeth usually gets right back to me. She must be really busy. She always emailed me from: info@elizabethmedinaphotography.com. The resort will provide plain white chair covers and sashes and candle centerpieces. Most of us are ordering and taking our own decorations because it's cheaper. You can ask Jesmcan or prettypigpig about the site visit because they did one. I think I read read somewhere on the website that they would give you a discounted price if you got married within a year. Hope this helps!

I am, but I am not. I am trying to finish up one of my classes for my MBA and then I can finish up on what I need to do. Basically I just need to work on my play list, finish submitting my checklist, decide how I am going to differentiate between who is eating what, order my koozies and work out all day every day...LOL. And shop for new clothes of course :-)

LOL! I know the feeling. I had such a head start but I feel like I'm behind now. I'm done with all of my coursework but really need to finish my dissertation within the next month. I need to do invitations, playlist, checklist, menus, welcome books, decide on meals, centerpieces, order chair sashes etc. etc. etc. And did I say that my FI has yet to get clothes together for the groomsmen? I need to help him with that. On a lighter note, I have been doing tons of internet shopping! LOL! I need to work out everyday too. I bought my wedding dress one size too small. Can you say uhhh ohhhhh???

Hi Heidi!

I reserved the location about a month before our site visit...and picked the package at the same time.  The most important thing is to definitely pick out your Date/Time!  Then 2nd most important is to book your locations for each part of the wedding so you can ensure you get them.  We booked the Gazebo for Ceremony/ Garden for cocktails/ Beach for Reception and ended up sticking with that after the site visit.  We saw the Ballroom as well, and it's definitely a nice ballroom, but everything looks much better outside.  I was very relieved to at least know we would have a nice place in case of rain.

They have some decorations, but I would probably recommend mostly bringing your own if you can.  I'm getting flowers from the resort, but bringing the rest (table runners, candle holders, paper lanterns, chair sashes).  I was also planning on buying some shells when I got there.

For hotel rooms, I booked those about a couple weeks after the site visit.  I used a great travel agent.  Unfortunately I did a group booking and only about 1/2 the rooms were booked by the 1st deadline.  We have had to fork up way too much money to keep the rooms on hold for our uber-lazy guests.  It is very stressful!  So I would HIGHLY recommend using a travel agent for Individual bookings (not group).

During the site visit, we did get to enjoy a nice tasting for free, but they don't offer you any other incentives at all.  It's very much a take it or leave it kind of place since so many people want to have weddings there.

Hope this helps!

Natalie

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
