Looking forward to trying to read through at least some of the history in here and trying to keep up with the present stuff.

I do have one question. I believe guests not staying at the Royal or Grand Porto need a day pass to attend the wedding? (insert family pressure here) Anyone had any problems with this? Also do you know the cost?

Thanks!
Hi, non-resort guests don't need a day pass the price is just more for them. I am not sure what the rates are now but for example for the ceremony its $10 versus $5 per person if it is a non resort guest. For the cocktail its $20 instead of ten and for the dinner it was $60 instead of $30.

Hope that helps :)

Jesmcan is right, your guests do not need to purchase a day pass. You just pay more for cocktail and reception, I believe for Luxury pkg a non-guest is $60 for reception From what I hear they are allowed to come onto property 30 minutes before hand and if there is any breaks in between they have to leave. For example if your ceremony is at 2 and reception isn't until 6 they woud have to leave.

That's right you just reminded me. Now that I had to change my reception time...I have an uncle staying at a timeshare nearby who is coming for the wedding. It is a $20 cab ride each way for him. I'm not going to make him leave between 2:30-5...has anyone come across this? How strict are they..guess I would have to purchase a day pass for him for the full day to get by that rule...

I stayed at Secrets Capri this past October and really liked their property and amenities, and from what I hear Secrets Maroma Beach is even better! Fun, fun, fun!

Hi ladies! We just got back into the states and there is SOOOO much to cover. I will post a review as soon as possible, but in the mean time if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them.

Someone asked about the time between ceremony and reception for non-guests... we only had two guests altogether staying at the Gran.. our ceremony was at 2 and the reception at 6.. the time between that they were refused service and had to leave until 30 minutes before the reception. It was crazy, so yeah they are pretty strict about it.

Alright that's what I thought. I'll have to purchase a day pass then for them just for that day.

Welcome back Duprk452!!!!!

Welcome to the thread Paperbag princess & N&J!!!!! The brides here are so friendly and so knowledgeable!

That's cool, Lady Di!!!! I've heard that the Secrets resorts are really nice. When I went to the DR in, we stayed at The Excellence (which used to be Secrets) and the setup was beautiful!

I got my flowers from the resort (it was the first option on the catalog with the roses). The girls flowers I got from a vendor back home, they were real touch flowers.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
