Just wanted to introduce myself - I've been reading the thread for like a week now, and this is my first post! My FI and I are confirmed at The Royal PDC on Nov. 4th, 2010. I've learned so much from this thread (it helped me decide on the location), so thanks already for all the great info you all have given me. A couple questions for you all:

1) Which photographers did you all decide on? I'm kicking around like 5 right now.

2) Has anyone worked with Rebekah? She's my stateside WC, and she's been super fast.

So excited to get to know you all!
Me too, I have been a passive member on this thread, and it has been a great help. I am booked for the 4th of July 2011. I decided to use Sascha Gluck as my photographer for my wedding, and Cecilia Dumas as my engagement pics photographer. Aja is my WC, so far so good! I am looking forward to my site visit in June.

Congrats!!! I'm using Cecilia Dumas for my photographer. She has been great to work with and only required a 10% deposit, which was great for me! It allowed me to book some of the other things I really wanted. She is doing my trash the dress session also.

I only have 9 more days left...the thought of leaving next week really gives me butterflies in my stomach!!!

it's been mentioned before, bit i haven't seen a lot of responses. what, if anything, are people planning on tipping people at the resort? i know the all-inclusive says that tips are included. anything to your onsite WC? anyone else?

Diane - I definitely plan to tip my onsite WC just because she has been so nice and took over when I was having issues with Angie when she didn't have to. As far as other wedding services is where I'm still deciding. (and still confused!) My FFIL works in the wedding industry so I'm going to have to ask him his opinions.

As far as at the resort I'll tip a dollar or so for drinks being brought to me. These people hardly get paid anything and work such long hours so just to be courteous and show my appreciation I'll do that. Maybe not everytime but majority of the time I will.

Hello - We returned from the site visit yesterday and had a blast. The Royal is fantastic and I know you will all be thrilled. Lili the WC on site was awesome. She told me they are scheduled to do over 100 weddings in May and are very busy right now but that they would make sure we all receive the wedding of our dreams.

We saw several weddings while we were there and they looked fabulous. It really put my mind at ease that that Royal was the right choice.

I have been working with TA Jennifer and she is amazing. I highly recommend using a TA from this forum. She has eliminated a huge amount of stress from dealing with my guests to dealing with the Michigan WC's. I can't say enough how helpful it is to have a TA that specializes in destination weddings and is from this forum.

Can someone post the Luxury package checklist again? I should probably get going on that.

Jen

I did tip the employees at the resort. Everyone works so hard and they have such small salaries. I brought a lot of small bills so I could appreciate everyone from the housekeeping staff to the pool bartender. They really do work like crazy and deserve it.

they do work very hard and many of them commute for an hour or more each way to get to work. having small bills on hand are a great prepping tip!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
