They are also very flexible with menu options. I chose different courses from three different menus. I just have to hope it doesn't downpour that night on the beach! I don't really want to be moved into a ballroom at all!
julia,

thanks for the info. we have only 12 guests coming, so we'd be in the same kind of situation. i think it would be worth the extra money though - as long as it doesn't rain! i totally agree about not wanting to be moved into a ballroom. we are, after all, planning BEACH weddings! :)

what menus did you receive? i just have the single menu for the semi-private receptions. could you e-mail me what you have ([email protected])?

thanks!

I have the Luxury package. Do you need that?

Just know that you will be paying $$ for them, regardless. See my $100 a person rant. It all depends on the package you get/extra hours.
Yeah, I understand what you are saying. We have one couple who is coming and staying offsite. These are close friends of ours so we don't mind paying the extra for them at the reception. But, the e-mail to Aja I was referring to was for guests that are still booking, since the resort is full. They will stay at the gran porto, which is still free for the wedding, but my concern was for daily use at the royal. They will still want to hang out with us, but I wondered since they were a part of our wedding, and the resort is booked, would the resort offer them discounted day passes or something along those lines to be with the rest of us. I would think they would, but it is the royal that we are talking about so who knows.

i have the classic package (at the gran porto), which comes with a semi-private reception. have any of you had to make an upgrade for your private reception? i would love to have it on the beach instead of at one the the resort restaurants. what are the options/logistics of doing this?

i'm still waiting to hear back from my WC... going on 2 weeks now.
Hi Diane! In regards to the flowers, I just called my WC to ask the very same question last week. What I was told is that it is extremely highly recommended to pick from their catalog. You can switch colors on any of them, but not the design. If you want to do something customized, they charge a "design fee", which could be up to $500!

whoa, $500!? that seems a little outrageous! ha, i just want them to through a few kinds of flowers together, but that fee would definitely sway me to just pick something from their catalog. bummer! haha, maybe they can just give me some loose flowers, some satin ribbon and i'll just tie them together! :)

i'll still wait to see what my WC (finally) will say, but i will definitely take a closer look at the catalog to have a plan from those options. thanks so much for the info!

I also have the luxury package. If you could send it to me that would be great. Thank you.

Hi ladies asking about flowers, I gave Zulma a picture of what I wanted when we were on our site visit and she said no problem. I would send them a picture and they will let you know the cost. I got a cascading all white orchid bouquet and it's $160 so I find the $500 to be crazy. I think that they are pulling your leg.

This is one of the issues we had. Our photographer is coming with us and we have the luxury package. Kimberly told me several months ago in writing that we could use the included photographer at another time on the resort...i.e. rehearsal dinner or welcome cocktails. Now, after Kimberly left, I am being told its pretty much either use it or lose it and they wont honor what I was told before, even though I have it in writing. (Ladies- this was the last straw in a long line of things like this that provoked my Grrrrr rant the other day!) The suggestion was to go ahead and use the included photograper during the ceremony and ours for the rest of it.....hmmm. May be me, but pretty sure I want our phoitographer to document the most important part of the entire day! They said we couldnt use him at any other time that day either (i.e. getting ready early, etc.) Doesnt make too much sense to me.

In short, yes, I think you just tell them you dont want it and you lose it. Kind of a bummer.

Awesome. Thanks for letting us know that! Think I am going to do that.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
