ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

diane,

yeah i've always wanted to get married on the beach. All mexican beaches are public so they can't really tell people to not walk through the ceremony... we're depending on their common sense! i've heard stories about topless women sunbathing near the ceremony. smile27.gif i guess it will be a matter of luck. i am getting married at 4pm on a holiday weekend so hopefully there won't be too many people but that will take some luck! Lol

I haven't been in contact with the coordinator in Mexico, and my wedding is April 22nd. So I wouldn't be too concerned if I were you. My travel agent told me I will hear from them like 2 weeks out. I have already paid for mine in full and picked out everything that I could with the US coordinator, I have Doreen. So now we just wait to hear from the coordinator in Mexico. Although, I am not sure there is a lot she can do for me until I get there..

For you ladies having ceremony on the beach: you picked it for very good reasons and it sounds very romantic! I'm sure there will be some gawkers, but when it comes down to it, you probably won't even notice (and neither will your FI because he will only be staring at you :-). I told my MOH about that notorious topless woman on the sidelines at someone's wedding and she said "nuh uh! I will run over there and tell her to move!" LOL.

It will be beautiful no matter what, and hey, there is always photoshop lol.

Does anyone know how fast they setup the cocktail reception and dinner receptions? I'm having having everything at gazebo and beach, so I was wondering if the tables are already set up during ceremony or if they wait until the cocktail reception?

Oh and lol does anyone worry that their family will be placed near your suite? I read a review on another resort where the bride specifically asked not to be placed near her family, but it was mixed up and her parents were NEXT DOOR. So they basically shared a wall the night of the wedding lol. AWFUL~!

Whoa! That is impressive! I haven't heard of that quick of a response since Kimberly R was there!! Nice!

Thank you for the info!!
LOL no kidding! I was figuring to do the same thing. Hopefully, Carole will still be there by the time I'm ready to send in my info...

If you're guests are staying at the Gran, there is no extra charge since it is a Real Resort :)

Why is it that the brides getting married at REAL resorts have to constantly do the job of the Michigan WCshuh.gif This is BS!!

I'm sorry sad.gif here's Carole's email [email protected]

Just ask her who your new one will be. Hope she gets back to you soon!

I'm trying to get her to join this board so she can share her planning with everyone but she's in her last semester of grad school IE no life haha! I can communicate thru her!

Oh man! Grad school & planning a Real Resort weddinghuh.gif The poor thing!! I couldn't imagine how stressed she is.

Thank goodness for you helping her smile03.gif

Its not far so I don't think it will be a big deal to walk people to GPR from the Royal, if it is available for you. Most of our guests are staying at the Royal, just a couple families w/kids are staying @ GPR.

I just meant getting GPR guests to the Royal would be a pain because they don't have access like the Royal guests have to the GPR.

I'm sure it will be fine like other brides have said, but FMIL is quite a pill at times if things go awry so I just didn't want to have to deal w/something if it came up. Among the other reasons I changed.

AHAHAHAHA! That's exactly what I was thinking w/the MOH! My sister would be all about that!
And photoshop, totally!

I read awhile back that Stephanie was told the tables would be set already on the beach if she had the wedding at the gazebo & reception on gazebo beach, but I bet you can make that not happen. Or at the very least have it moved off to the side a bit so it isn't in the view of the ocean/wedding.

LOL, we're definitely going to try our hardest on this one! Not that we don't love the fam, but you know! Luckily, the master OF suites are kinda separated from the other suites so we should be good.
If you have a Royal category suite (which I'm pretty sure they are all Royal category after the renovations), you can pick your exact suite so just tell them you're staying in another number blush2.gif

I have a little update on Suzanna. She is on a "family leave" and they are not sure if she will return. When I called, Aja answered the phone and knew who I was and all about my wedding. She said that she is covering my wedding for Suzanna until she returns, if ever. She gave me more information than I had before. I had no idea my checklist was supposed to be turned in 60 days prior (which is like today!). I'm glad I called!

It's not required to turn in until 45 days so you have time. I don't know why she told you 60 days.
I'm glad she knew all your info, though, YAY!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
