My wedding is at the Royal on May 10th, 2010. I noticed there are a couple brides with that wedding date - my reception is at 6pm in the Oceanfront Gazebo. Leaving in 2 months!!

I recently had some trouble getting in touch with anyone in Michigan and finally just said I would hold on the line until Angie could finish what she was doing and talk to me. She let me know that they pulled her out of a meeting with the people from Mexico in order to talk to me. I guess it was the infamous big wig meeting you all mentioned. It worked - she sent me what I needed over the weekend! I am now contacting Zulma directly and hopefully can work with her from here on out.

One question for you girls - I hadn't planned to bring any decorations for the gazebo with me. Does anyone know what comes standard (I have the Luxury package)? I know the white linens and seat covers are included for the reception, but wasn't sure if there were any decorations inside/on the gazebo aside from the flower arrangement. What are other brides doing if there isn't anything included? I don't want to lug too much stuff with me, but I think it looks really pretty in some pictures I've seen with the white fabric hanging down. Can you rent it there?
i'm pretty sure the white fabric is included in the gazebo. the decorations that are included look pretty simple, but it always looks nice in the pictures. personally, i don't plan on bring much - if anything - extra for the ceremony.

I'm not in the gazebo, but on the beach. I am bringing just some pink organza fabric for some chair sashes and for the chuppa. I like the white, but wanted a little bit of color. The Royal wanted $3 per chair sash and I got some fabric at a local fabric store for what would equal to be about 75 cents a chair. For the reception, I am still debating on if I should sneak seashells. (I wanted to do a sandbox type thing) I know it will be my luck and they'll get confiscated!! I might just pay the Royal to do a simple rose petal and candle idea.

i am starting to think that "the big mexico meeting" is another cover up.

can some of you ask your WCs about the legal ceremony outline? i need to email my WC again to clarify that we can personalize our legal ceremony. Krisswim said we can't change anything if we have a legal ceremony.

i'm just doing the symbolic ceremony, so i'm sorry that i can't help you out. but i think it would be pretty terrible if you weren't able to customize and personalize your legal ceremony! i would be suuuuuper surprised if you couldn't throw a reading or music or whatever you wanted in there, as long as it doesn't increase the length of the ceremony toooo much! good luck!

Thank you so much for all of the info. Does anyone know if you can exchange things from the different menus? Just wondering, because I'm actually pretty disappointed in the choices for soups and desserts. (We are having a three hour private reception) I'm thinking of cutting out the soup altogether. Also, there was a page labeled garnishing, is it one garnishing or two?

I'm a cake freak but hate to spend the extra money on it if I don't even know how it tastes!! And can anyone tell what kind of icing it is? It all looks like fondant to me. :/ I was hoping for more of a butter cream.
I'm gonna upgrade the cake because it's important to me.

This is exactly what I thought, too. Remember when they said they had a "big meeting" a few weeks ago? I mean, I HOPE they are, but we shall see.

I have the luxury package and Angie told me that the 2 cold canapes are included, but the hot canapes are extra.

Woot, another Texas girl! I've seen white sashes on the gazebo, but I'm not sure if that is a free option or not...hmm, good question.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
