ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Has anyone heard when 2011 room prices will be out for Real? Royal has had theirs our for a few weeks...my wedding is 1/11/11....so it's less than 11 months now. My guests (and I!) are getting antsy and want to book! Is it normal for the prices to still not be out?

I was in your position last year. I got married mid January this year and it took so long for the prices to come out in 2009. I didn't see any firm pricing for any of the resorts until July-August and we finally booked everyone in late August. But last year could have been a unique scenario with the Swine Flu and may have pushed things back.

Ohhhh man mid August!! Holy crap!! I guess everyone that keeps asking me I'll just start telling them, I'll let them know when it's up and to stop asking because it will be awhile! LOL

I'm just suprised on how Royal can have theres out and Real doesn't...just because of the connection of the two. My future in laws plan to stay at the Royal so she was thinking of booking now instead of waiting..not sure if we should do that or not!

Lol...yes we had the same thing. Everyone kept asking us "when can we book?" "can we book now?" etc. I know how you feel and you want to get everything booked so you can start proper planning. The agents were telling me the Winter prices don't come out until the Spring and the prices you see now are inflated. My prices didn't come until mid summer but I think the Swine Flu put a blip on the timing.

So for now I would just tell your guests to hold off but keep saving those pennies. I would send an email once a month to remind them with some small facts here and there about Mexico/Mayan just to keep the interest high. It worked for us :)

Hey everyone,

SOOOO glad to hear that corporate is trying to take care of the issues we have all been having with The Royal. Finally heard from Carole last week and waiting to hear again. Hopefully she will be on top of it.

Is anyone planning on shipping things down there?? Such as centerpiece type things? Also, do you guys know who is in charge of setting up our table scapes for the cocktail hour and reception?

For those of you who are planning on using lounge furniture, we are planning on going with the furniture that the Royal provides for the 250 fee and adding various pillows in our colors to splash it up a bit. After looking at all of the options, seemed to be the best, most cost effective one for us.

Also, if anyone else is looking for a venue for another event (rehearsal dinner, etc) I dealt with both The Blue Parrot and Wickys Beach Club (Thanks for the suggestions, Jesmcan!) and they are both VERY professional and willing to work with whatever budget you give them. We ended up booking a private, beachfront, casual lunch at Wickys for 60 people the day before the wedding as our rehearsal event as we wanted something relaxed and fun and totally diff than the plated 4-course dinner we will have at the wedding. We are not paying what is listed on the websites- I gave them a per person price and they came back with a different menu that was perfect for us. Anyway, also thought it was better to have it offsite in case The Royal books up so we/they dont have to pay a day pass fee. Then everyone can have that evening to themselves while we take our bridal party and families on an excursion.

Thanks to everyone on here for your advice and suggestions- SUCH great help. Also, thanks for the positive vibes- you guys are right- I'm sure we will all be so happy with how everything turns out! Happy Planning-

YAY! yes Wicky's is wonderful - we are also doing a dinner the night before for 60 guests, they let us custom our menu. I wanted to do a cocktail style event and we are ending the evening with fire dancers. Not sure if you have been there but it is very private and right on the beach!

Ladies they are willing to work with he, just as an example here is the menu we ended up with,

Shrimp Cocktail Shooters with Horseradish Gazpacho Displayed in Ice
Ceviche Shooters
Wicky Slider Burger Bar with All the Sides
Parmesan Truffle Fries
Housmade Chips & Salsa

Salad Station With Three Salad Choices
Hearts of Romaine, Croutons & Grated Parmesan With Caesar Dressing
Mixed Salad Greens, Smoked Bacon, Tomato, and Crouton
With Avocado-Buttermilk Dressing and Balsamic Vinaigrette
Fresh Mozzarella, Sliced Tomato, and Julienne Basil With Balsamic Reduction & Basin Infused Olive Oil

Oysters on the Half Shells Shooters
Mine Crab Cakes Shooters
Jumbo Shrimp Shooters

and
Bite Size Dessert Station

plus open bar

Linda was wonderful to work with they are very professional and responsive there.

I was originally going to ship centerpieces, but FI suprised me by saying lets just pick from the catalog. I'll probably bring table runners, favors, and menu cards, though. Good question, i wonder if you should provide a pic of what you want it to look like?

I think the pillows are a great choice (I saw something similar in pics and they looked great)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
