ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

When my travel agent called the Gran to find out about the day passes, after the $60 promotion was over, they said it was $150/day!!! My dad is booked there and I'm really worried they are going to have to pay a fortune. I can't even book a rehearsal dinner in fear that we will spend a fortune on the day passes.

So, I just emailed Zulma and she said that the bridal flowers are $90 and the bridesmaid flowers are $70. I'm confused because mine should be free with the luxury package, and I was quoted $60 for the bridesmaids. I also asked if there was a cheaper option on the bridesmaids flowers and she didn't answer that question =(

I'm starting to get frustrated with the lack of communication and misinformation. I mean how are you supposed to budget correctly if you get 10 different answers from everyone? It also takes forever for anyone to get back to you. I know they are overwhelmed and I honestly wouldn't care about the wait if once they did email you back it was the answer to the question you asked!!!! I'm 3 months away from my wedding and I feel like nothing is planned. It scares me that you don't pick out flowers or anything until the day before the wedding! I mean nobody from the resort will help me on this or give me any difinitive answer on anything.

So basically they sleep at the Gran, but party with us all week!

Any info would be greatly appreciated, I tried searching but got overwhelmed. :)

This was what I was going to suggest as well, although this is the highest category room at the gran, so the price will probably still be up there, but if they were originally planning to book at the royal anyway, it shouldn't be too bad.

Pricing has come out from one of my suppliers for january 2011- it looks like it is guestimates though as the prices look pretty high!

Gahh, $150 a day. That blows.

I set up hair appointments for my mom, sister and MIL who are staying at Gran at the salon at the Royal. I will be royally upset if I have to pay for their day passes. The WC said they don't have to pay day passes for the salon.

She probably didn't realize you have Luxury package..your bouquet should be free. Yes, it is $60 for bridesmaid bouquets. I think I read somewhere that you can have a few stems for less price but I am not sure about that.

Yes I was quoted that single stems were $15 however don't quote me on that either since as we can all see the answer varies day to day lol.

On a postive note lets all remember why did we choose the royal? Because every past bride had an amazing experience there. I know it seems crazy to put our big days in the hands of people who need to take a crash course in communication.

However look at how beautiful all past weddings turned out. The way I see it once we get there as long as we have everything in writing we will get what we want. I don't know about you guys but I can be a lot scarier in person than over e-mail if I need to be. But I have faith that I won't need to show this side. So if we are sweet show them what exactly we want for flowers, cake, etc. based on past reviews I am sure we will get everything we are looking for.

As far as day passes there seems to be not that much we can control there. I just asked my TA Jill who responded above the same question. I think this is one we have to play by ear. Lets hope that promotion comes back around.

Hi Louise - Yep, I'll be paying the $100 vendor fee. The quote I received was $1400 for the lounge furniture for 40-50 people. A little spendy but I love the look and I think it will create just the atmosphere we are looking for.

Thanks Jess, this really helped me because I've had a sick feeling in my stomach for 2 days, thinking I made the wrong choice in the Royal for my wedding. I was actually looking at another resort site again an hour ago, but you did make me feel better.

Awwww don't worry I know that horrible feeling. The resort is beyond beautiful but above all its the location. Being right down town will give your guests a truelly wonderful vacation.

Plus the awards they have received for food far surpasses other AI resorts. And just go back and look at the slide shows of past weddings there. Look how amazing they are.

Don't worry everything will turn out just fine. Don't have any regrets :) Your day will be perfect and exactly what you wanted it to be. In the mean time do what I do and make sure you are stock full of wine ahahah to help you get through it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
