ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

On Expedia, it tells you, you need to be 18 or older to stay at the royal, at one point I assumed it was 16 'cause I had guests book through a TA and they were bringing there 16 year old daughter, until the TA called back the next day and told them you have to be atleast 18 years of age, so they moved thier reservation to the Gran.

Do you know how close they allow onlookers? I have seen some pictures online where the onlookers are in the background of the ceremony pictures. That's a little too close for my comfort. I don't want to see somebody in a bikini in the background of me saying my vows. If they can be kept further away though, then I would be all for the beach. How do you choose the decorations for a beach ceremony? Are they all the circle of flowers on the ground, or are there other options? Thanks for your help!

This is interesting, as my little sister is 16 as is one of my fiance's cousins. The Air Canada Vacations book (thats who we booked with) says 16+ and we have had no issues and everyone is all paid up months ago.

Not sure if anyone spoke of this but what is everyone getting for their parents gifts? I was thinking of doing something with the spa, but I don't know if that is too little.
One idea we are toying with is booking an excursion for our parents. Like to Xel-Ha or something.

Spa is a good idea too!

I think The Royal staff will rope the ceremony off but I don't know how far. You just can't control the beach because it is public property.

There are options for the beach decorations. I am doing the colored chair sashes and tulle fabric on the huppa. They will charge you an arm and leg if you let them do the decorations so it is the best to bring your own decorations so they can put them up free of charge.

Oh wow, thanks for letting me know that! Are the plain chair covers included with a package or do I need to pay extra for those?

Yes they include white chair sashes. If you want color sashes, they are $3 each.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
