How long did you date before enagaged?

Recommended Posts

We dated for 4 months before we got engaged. I was SO surprised - we had talked about marriage very early on but I thought we would be like most "normal" couples and date for at least a year. When you know, you know!

We were introduced to each other 2 years before we started dating - we lived half way across the country from each other and even though we hit it off almost immediately, it wasn't until the we met again at a mutual friends birthday party in 2006 that we decided to start dating - long distance. We have been long distance the entire engagment. When I finish grad school in May 2009, I am selling my house and finally moving to be with Chris!

We knew each other 3 months and 15 days when he proposed.

He asked me out over 8 times before I went on a first date with him. I had every excuse under the sun to not go out with him, as I was "seeing" someone.

Finally, I agree to go out with him on a Saturday and we have been inseperable since then!

On our wedding day, we will have been together 2 years 7 months.

He proposed to me 1 year and 9 months after we started dating... although we moved in together after 6 months, so we did everything kinda quick.

It is very true though, when you know, you know.

I remember telling my mom 2 weeks after dating him that I will be marrying him and now it is less than 6 months away!! smile43.gif

  • 2 weeks later...

We've been dating since our first year in undergrad. We've almost finished our MAs together (this year), and even though we're unofficially engaged (he's waiting for my ring - *sigh* the life of students, lol), he hopes to be married by 2010. I'm hoping for 2011.

If it goes according to plan, we might officially be engaged by 2009...which would be seven years of dating beforegetting engaged. And then depending on the years, an additional 1- 2 years before the wedding.

We had been dating about a year and 10 months when we got engaged. We moved in together after about 7 months of dating I think...It was so strange how it worked out but it just did!

We will have been together just over 4 years when we get married.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
