I let go of my wedding party...

Recommended Posts

Ugh .. I'm so sorry to hear that!

I'm sure it will all work out and you'll be able to look back on this wedding with nothing but good memories!

I haven't booked my wedding yet, but maybe I will wait until after they decide to come to ask them to be in it ... so they won't feel obligated. I would rather only have two on my side, but the fiance wants his whole crew of 5! oh boy .... I see stress ahead of me smile105.gif

I did the same thing. It's much easier to only focus on you and your FI! No hassles with others attire or travel plans. You have enough to do without having to deal with the extra stress.

I'm so sorry about all this unnecessary drama, but actually this is going to be for the best! I am not having a bridal party and seriously it's one less to have to worry about! Initially we thought of inviting FI's best friend and my bf to be our BM and MOH, but FI's best friend is falling off the wagon again and he and his wife argue at the drop of the hat in front of anyone and everyone, and I didn't want that drama at my small wedding! (6 family guests, that's it). Then my best friend just had a baby and her hubby is out of work, so in a nutshell it just made sense to be without a party at our DW. They will be our witnesses when we get married legally here after we come back, so they will still be a part of the celebration and our AHR afterward.

Don't worry, it'll all be fine and you're not alone!!!

Wow *HUG* Sorry you had to go throguh that!!! Good for you for sticking up for yourself! It's seriously not worth the stress!!

It's actually one of the things I'm afraid of. We were planning a local wedding when I lost my job and then decided to do a destination wedding (what we have saved already can cover it). We had already asked our bridal party (7 girls 7 guys). So when we told them we changed plans, we told them all the same thing "we still want you to be in it if you can, but if you can't afford to be in it and come, we would rather you be there. If you can't afford to be in it or to come, we 100% understand"

So far everyone says they're coming (2 guys are iffy)...we'll see who actually buys a dress and books when it comes down to it...

I think what you did is so great. It's a sucky situation, but good for you for standing up for youself and putting those butt's in their right place.

We're waiting to see who RSVPs before we even begin to ask people, but I'm not sure that going this route is going to eliminate any of the crap. We'll see

Good for you for sticking to your guns.

I'm having no BM or GM and if I had my way it would be just me and the FI! lol but he wants to invite his friends and the dreaded FMIL with her new hubby(long story!!) lol

So in a nutshell I'm dreading it because as soon as she finds out she is going to start bitching about wanting this and that and I, unfortunately, have no tact lmao and will tell her to gives.gif lmao

So I know how you feel and I'm proud of you for ditching the party, we are having a small reception but only cause that is already in the package then i'm going jet skiing and they can do what they want lmao gun.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
