We're not having a welcome dinner either. But we are having everyone over to our beach house for drinks a couple nights before the wedding. Sort of a "meet and greet". We have people coming from everywhere and alot of them have never met. We thought this would be more intimate and give people a chance to meet each other.

I don't think it's cheap if you're not having a welcome dinner. I wouldn't expect it if I were a guest.

Hi My FI and I are not planning on having a welcome dinner, we will be asking our guests to meet for a drink in DREAMS Puerto vallarta. My question is where exactly did everyone ask their guests to meet them for a drink?

You realize this is the CABO forum and not Puerto Vallarta right?  so I'm not sure the girls on here can help you.

We are not doing a welcome dinner either.  We are lucky enought o have a guest coming who is hosting a cocktail party for us at the One and Only La Palmilla, which we are so excited about!

We aren't hosting a welcome dinner either.   We've convinced a groomsman to host an informal cocktail hour inside his suite (conveniently, all suites at Cabo Azul have kitchens and living rooms).  We are going to buy a ton of beer, a few bottles of tequila and vodka, and a few munchies at the local super market.  Immediately following, we are encouraging everyone to hop in taxis to go to the clubs in Cabo.  This way, we can control the length (and price) of the cocktail hour!  This would be Thursday night.  Our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner (wedding party and family only) will be Friday, then the wedding on Saturday.  We will make sure that the guests that aren't going to the rehearsal dinner have a list of restaurants and things to do.

Wow. I don't even think that NOT having a welcome dinner crossed my mind! One of my closest friends just had a DW wedding in Hawaii and she had a welcome dinner so I guess I just thought it was a necessary thing, despite the fact that a bunch of us had already been there for several days prior to the welcome dinner. But after reading this discussion, it makes me feel so much better if I decide not to have one because all of my guests will most likely be arriving on different days. What a relief! Thanks ladies!

No welcome dinner for us.  No worries or feeling bad.....the budget can get out of control pretty quickly. I do like the idea of getting beer and snacks and have everyone meet in our room and then head out to a bar or club.  Most of our guest are arriving on Friday evening (day before the wedding) so I am not so sure what they will feel up to doing.  They probably would not mind a drink in our room or at the hotel bar which will provide the opportunity for me to hand out my OOT bags.  My FI and daughter and I will probably just have pizza at the Sunset Point/Sunset Da Mona Lisa because we will be there for our rehearsal Friday evening..........then catch up with our guest as they arrive.
