Hi Abbi, that is beautiful ! Thank you for sharing that with us. Can I ask - Did you both memorise it or did you read from something ? The part where the registra says "repeat after me" does he/she read it all then you repeat it all or did they do it in bits ? (am I making sence ? lol )

Our vows weren't traditional vows in the sense that we were pledging stuff like "I promise to...". They were more like love letters to each other/how we feel/what we mean to each other. I think they can be whatever you want so close your eyes and think of him...the words will flow :o)

Hi Jodey, Thanks! We actually don't get to say them for another 4 months, BUT, the minister will read a line until the '/' and then we repeat it, we don't have to memorize it, praise the lord!

This is what I threw together for different ceremony options and what our resort gave us:

Gathering Words

We are gathered here today to join Jack and Melanie in marriage. It is fitting and appropriate that you, the families and friends of Jack and Melanie be here to witness and to participate in their wedding, for the ideals, the understanding, and the mutual respect which they bring to their marriage have their roots in the love, friendship, and guidance you have given them. Marriage makes us aware of the changes wrought by time, but the new relationship will continue to draw much of its beauty and meaning from the intimate associations of the past. It is one of lifeâ€s richest surprises when the accidental meeting of two life paths leads them to proceed along the common path of husband and wife, and it is one of lifeâ€s finest experiences when a casual relationship grows into a permanent bond of love. The meeting and this growth bring us together today.

Address

JACK and MELANIE, you are about to enter a union which is most sacred and most serious, requiring of those enter into it a complete and unreserved giving of self. It will bind you together for life in a relationship so close and so intimate that it will profoundly affect your whole future.

That future, with its hopes and disappointments, its pains and pleasures, its joys and sorrows, is hidden from your eyes. Love cannot live in itself, it must be nurtured with a mutual and ultimate sharing, a giving and taking.

Expression of Intent

MELANIE, do you take this man to be your wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward; for better or worse; for richer, for poorer; in sickness and in health, to love and cherish, til death due us part. I do.

JACK, do you take this man to be your wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward; for better or worse; for richer, for poorer; in sickness and in health, to love and cherish, til death due us part. I do.

Exchange of Vows

From this day forward I choose you, JACK,

to be my husband,

to live with you and laugh with you,

to be joy to your heart and food to your soul,

to bring out the best in you always,

and, for you, to be the most that I can.

From this day forward I choose you, MELANIE,

to be my wife,

to live with you and laugh with you,

to be joy to your heart and food to your soul,

to bring out the best in you always,

and, for you, to be the most that I can.

Presentation and Exchange of Rings

Jack, as a sign of my love for you

And my desire to share

My whole lifeâ€s journey with you,

I give you this ring with the pledge

That I shall cherish and care for you

With all my heart and soul

From this day forward.

Melanie, as a sign of my love for you

And my desire to share

My whole lifeâ€s journey with you,

I give you this ring with the pledge

That I shall cherish and care for you

With all my heart and soul

From this day forward.

Sand Ceremony

Jack and Melanie may your love always be as constant as the never-ending waves, flowing endlessly from the depths of the sea. Just as the waters touch and nourish the many shores of the earth, may your love be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Just as there will never be a morning without the oceanâ€s flow, there will never be a day without your love for each other. You have just sealed your relationship by the giving and receiving of rings. This beautiful union is symbolized through the combining of these two individual jars of sand. The first jar represents you, MELANIE, in all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the other jar represents you, JACK in all that you were, all that you are and all that you will ever be. Each one holds its own unique beauty, strength, and character. They can stand on their own and be whole, without need of anything else. However when these two are blended together they create an entirely new and extraordinarily more intricate entity. Each grain of sand brings to the mixture a lasting beauty that forever enriches the combination. When you pour the sand into this common container, it symbolizes the union of your two lives. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be a molding of two individual personalities, bonded together forming one heart, one love. The life that each of you experienced now, individually, will hereafter be inseparably united, for the two shall become one.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
