rebecca-

don't be bummed- although those albulm are beautiful i really think you can find something that will suit your needs and your budget. you dont necessarily need something so fancy- i thought i saw a post from someone who compared the different wedding book companies- did i make that up? anyway- keep looking because i am sure you can find something that is still beautiful without being so expensive :-)

OK, I know this is WAY lower quality than the amazing albums listed about but what about this: My understanding is they last AND you could always continue to save up for your expensive album wink.gif

What about doing a bound, printed hardcover book through iPhoto (anyone who has a current Mac can put it together). I'm making one for our roadtrip which I am REALLY excited about. They're very affordable and they are terrific - my friend who is a professional photographer (editorial not wedding) uses these for his own photos:

$29.99 for a book with 10 pages (single sided or 2-sided) and then $.99 for each additional page. I think you can go up to 50 sheets (potentially 100 page bound book for $69.99) total. They come only up to 8.5 x 11 though so I'm not sure if that's big enough. But anyway if you want to check it out here's the link. Also I can show you mine once I finish making it and ordering it! It's also really fun!

I think for "Formal" could be nice for a very classic look. We're actually going to be doing this for our gifts for our parents - I haven't figured out just what yet!

Jonathan I'm really confused by all this. If you get one of these books made does that mean that the photog doesn't give you other pics as well? Or do you get both the book and the separate photos. These are really nice. Are these like the coffee table books that everyone talks about or am I confusing them?

Glenda, that all depends on what the photographer offers.

For me, it depends on what the B&G decide to get in their package. All my packages include and album of some sort and online proofing and ordering. So... they have the option of only getting an album but having the ability to view and order all their photos online OR they can have an album AND get the DVD or proofs as well. Does that make sense? It all depends on what they want in their package.

Yes, these are coffee table type books/albums. Some of them are more like books and some are more like albums. To me, "albums" have a more substantial feel and weight to them and books are thinner/lighter. They are both the same "style" though as the photos are printed right on the pages.

Apple iPhoto books are great. They are so easy to make and cheap. But.. like you said, the quality is WAY lower. They will last in the since that they won't fade, but the paper is easily ripped and the binding isn't the best.

I would only use these books for fun gifts and never as a primary album.

The only other thing is they are only available to Apple users. (which I think everyone should be, but thats another thread) :-)

FYI you can get iPhoto books thru MyPublisher for deep discounts. Check out the MyPublisher page that has info about Macs (you have to download a iPhoto plugin but it's super easy). Get 25% off orders of $50+ or 50% off orders of $100 or more using coupon code 2MAC2550 thru June 30th I think. PM me if you want more info on this.

Jonathan's is right though. These albums are awesome for your coffee table or for gifts, but it probably isn't good enough to be a primary album!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
