Is anyone else frustrated with finding invites?

Recommended Posts

I am SO FREAKIN FRUSTRATED!

Eveything I like, my FI doesn't. I am at the point where I am over it. I see myself turning into a bridezilla over this. I designed the initial STD letter, the STD Postcard and now I have started looking for actual invites, and nothing I pick out is to his liking.

He just says, "Oh bring me some more, get more samples". Why? So he can just shoot me down again?

Maybe I need to take a wedding break. I don't know. I am so overwhelmed with it all right now. I know we have plenty of time, but I am a neurotic planner and this is so stressful. The only help or opinions I get is from him and his mom. His mom is usually agreeable, but he keeps shooting all of my ideas down.

My BM (my sister) is MIA, my MOH lives 2 hours away and doesn't have a computer to check her e-mail. I don't have a mom - my dad's wife could give a rat's ass. My dad...he's another story altogether. So the only people I have are you guys to listen to me rant!

I think I am going to leave the invitation thing alone for a while so I can take a breather.

I think tonight I'm skipping the PTO meeting and I am heading straight to Target to peruse their dollar aisles - and on the way home I'm stopping at Noodles & Co. to buy some macaroni and cheese. Mooooooo.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Personally I would then tell him, he look into something he likes and if he can't find anything then I would get what you like best. I would get seriously pissed off if my FI kept making me do all that work. He should pitch in and help if he's going to be that picky!

Can you get your FI to agree to letting us pick? Maybe you can post a few of your favs and we can vote? Or any thought of DIY-ing? I am sorry you are frustrated, thats no fun. A break is a good thing, can get you rejuvenated. Has your FI looked in the catalogs and ordered his own flippin' samples?

I had to just set things down and walk away several times during my planning... and you know what? Usually when I did that, once I picked it back up again the right thing would just come to me. Take a break, do some non-wedding stuff for a few days and maybe you'll find the right thing. When you do decide to look again, is there something we can help you find? Like do you have a certain style in mind or something we can help you narrow down?

Also, my DH was soooo picky during the planning process and kept knocking down ideas I'd had. I got so sick of it that I told him if he wasn't 100% participatory on something then he was not allowed to offer his opinion. He had to sit down and look at invitation ideas with me until we came to a decision or he wasn't allowed to give his opinion. I also stopped asking for his opinion after a while and he was totally happy with what I picked out in the end... men!! lol

i did this also and i found when i took a few days or even a few weeks of stopping looking at stuff incessantly, the next time i looked, my head was much clearer.

Ditto to everything sarah said here, my FI did the SAME thing. I told him if he was going to shoot down all my ideas, then he had to provide alternatives, otherwise he couldnt bitch about it, because i was the one doing all the work. we especially could not agree on invitations. you might want to try something like mygatsby.com and do the mix n match invites, theyre reasonably priced and that way you can each pick out elements of the invite. we found this was the only situation that worked for us. good luck!

I'm sorry. And I think it's safe to say that we've all been there.

So, take his ass with you to the stationers. Make him sit there with you until he (a) concedes that what you picked out first was better than all the others or (B) you find the missing book of samples that you both love and are totally delighted with. Because, seriously, it will end up being (a) or (B).

I went through this also. I looked for months and could never find anything that I love and if I did love it, they were extremely expensive. So I settled in designing them myself and Mark didn't mind. He helped me choose the color of the jute bag to insert them. He seems to be more concern about the OOT bags... strange!

My FI was the same way... he didn't want to offer any info at all. He was never negative he just didn't care. Then I would talk to him about what stuff cost and he would have a fit. SO, I told him to give me a budget and stay out of it. LOL. He did and things have been much better. IMO if they aren't going to help then they need to stay out of it. Or like my Grandma always said if you aren't cooking stay out of the kitchen.

Sorry you are going through this!

I agree with what all the ladies have said!

I was frustrated with my FI cause when I got the invite proof last week he told me he didn't like the font and wanted to go with a script one. Ugh! I was like oh now you care. Anyhow, we went with my font.

I love Noodles & Co mac n cheese! I can't decide on invitations either, but it is more because I can't make a decision. I have stopped thinking about it for awhile.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
