Hi,

I've been to the Riviera Maya for several years in a row, and just last April my sister got married at Ana y Jose in Tulum. It was fabulous! They were so helpful and accomodating, and things went so smoothly! She had a pretty decent wedding turnout, too, about 90 people. Although not everyone could stay right there at the hotel, she did get to have close family and friends right there at the hotel, and there is a new hotel right next door called Zulum. And my sister had a list of a lot of different places to stay within a couple of (beach) blocks.

The reason why I love this place is for it uniqueness and its solitude. You won't have a million people on the beach gawking at your wedding vows and you pretty much have the beach all to yourselves. It is also very beautiful, and seems to fit right in nature (although the accomodations are very nice, and not rustic at all). It has a very Shangri-La feel with a much better beach (we were in Playa in December and the beach has eroded a lot around there) and far less people.

Only drawback I guess is that Tulum town is not as hip as downtown Playa, but guests were having so much fun with each other that it didn't matter.

Good luck!

Theresa

Another unique place closer to Playa is Paraiso De La Bonita. Very boutique and has only 90 suites. It is such a beautiful resort and the suites are georgeous! It is adults only - so if you have kids coming it probably wouldn't work unless you have enough guests to take over the property!

THere are a lot of very nice hotels in the area, that can accomodate your guests. it also depends on if you would like an all inclusive or prefer a non all inclusive, such as Shangri La. It is definitely a very nice hotel and a shame that it is closen.

If you are not able to find a hotel that suits your wishes for your dream wedding, you can also look into the options to do your wedding and reception outside of the hotel you are staying at. There are some very pretty and more secluded beaches available in Playacar and the Riviera Maya that are perfect for a wedding.

Good luck with the search!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
