Hey everyone! My name is Jen. My fiance and I are still trying to figure out which resort/hotel in Riviera Maya to have our destination wedding. We are expecting kind of a large crowd 60-80 guests, and are pretty flexible with the date. Ideally, I'd love something a little unique, and would love to have the option of having the reception dinner outside. If you have any suggestions let me know.

I am kind of liking the Shangri-la Caribe in Playa del Carmen, but they are shutting down in April 09, so I am not sure if it's a good idea...any thoughts?

Hi Jen. Welcome to the forum. We are also having a large crowd (100 people) but after a site visit to PDC, Cancun and everywhere in between, we settled on the Fiesta Americana Condesa in Cancun. It was the perfect place for us. Another hotel we really liked was the Paradisus. Maybe you could check that out. I know a lot of girls on here are getting married there. When I was there for the site visit, I saw a wedding going on and the reception was outside and it looked really nice. Good luck with your planning.

I know what you mean! Shangri-la Caribe looks really great for a wedding. I emailed a bit with the coordinator and they were very nice and fast to respond. Our wedding won't be until after their close date either and honestly I would have felt a little hesitant to book with them knowing that they were closing soon. We are looking at the Riviera Maya too, but hopefully with a little smaller guest list bunny_4.gifGood luck!

Oh have you looked at Ana Y Jose Beach Club?

It is in Tulum and the hotel wouldn't accommodate your full guest list. But it also looks great for a wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
