I am needing to book a one night stay at Azul Beach Resort for a site visit. Their website won't let you book less than 3 nights. However, I came across a few online booking sites that would.
The last thing I want to do is book a night and get screwed over when we get in Mexico.
I have read the thread warning about Expedia and Orbitz so I know to stay away from them.
So that leaves me with Bookit.com or Hotels.com.
I have also been contemplating booking a standard room vs deluxe room...
    Any thoughts

What about Apple Vacations? We have had friends use that and they seemed to have no problems..

Or maybe try calling Liberty Travel? They have blocks of rooms at lots of resorts and they tend to have access to good rates.

I have always had a good experience with hotels.com. I think for a site visit you can be a little "riskier" and book it though a website like those. For your wedding you can't afford any risk, but for a site visit if your room got bumped, etc. you could probably still work things out.

Many of my friends suggested hotels.com for planning a europe trip. It really worked out perfect. It's what they always use too & are very happy with it.

Apple Vacations, Travelocity or Orbitz. They have all been reliable.

I have used all the major sites (expedia, travelocity, orbitz, hotels.com, bookit) for both business and personal travel and the only one I ever had trouble with was hotels.com. They couldn't find the hotel reservation for one of my employees and of course the hotel was booked as were all hotels nearby. It caused a big headache for the employee. Then when I contacted them and forwarded the email confirmation that I had received from them, they still couldn't find the reservation. It really amazed me. Plus they weren't helpful or sympathetic or anything. But with that said, a perfectly reputable company can make a mistake. Good luck with booking the room. I am sure everything will work out great. Just call to confirm a couple days before you leave to make sure they have the reservation.

good to know. Mine isn't for my wedding, but I am glad to hear that you haven't had any trouble with bookit.com, thanks

Thanks! What fast responses. That's why I love this place .
Liberty Travel doesn't have Azul listed and Apple does, but it won't let me book hotel only.
                    Very good suggestions though!
