Beach Reception - Dancefloor?

Recommended Posts

So I'm planning to have my reception on the beach...

FI & I keep debating whether to rent a dancefloor to make dancing a bit easier. Granted, I've advised everyone to wear flip-flops or go barefoot...and even though it may be hysterical to see guests drunk with sand all over them by the end of the night lol, once us latinos start doing our super speedy dances, things may get tricky.

So, to rent a dancefloor or not. That is the question.

Be advised that renting one in Cabo runs from $600.00-$2,000.00 depending on size; ouch. I was hoping to spend $500.00 if I did rent one, but my coordinator is telling me $800.00 for the size I need, which is doable, but still more than I wanted to spend.

I agree .. dancing on the beach can be kinda tough! And this a wedding, so fun and dancing should be easy!!!

As oppsoed to renting a dance floor, see if your cooridnator can have a section of the beach dug up to the firmer sand and then patted down to make an almost falt surface. Who knows if your hotel will agree to this, but I read in a bridal magazine once this is what an LA event planner to the stars did at some celebratiy beach wedding. So maybe worth a shot.

When I was going to have the reception on the beach - I was debating this question. I think dancing on the dance floor would be much better then on the sand (especially for the older generation who will be attending). However, I wonder if the dance floor would get slippery once sand started to get all over it when people track it on with their feet?

If you decide to get one - you may want to be careful about that.

This is my concern as well...
Either slippery or super brittle on barefoot feet...
Maybe i'll hire someone to wipe down the dancefloor between songs like an empire does a base lol

Totally depends on what kind of dancing you're planning for, but we had people dancing right on the beach... our reception was on an outdoor patio, and we all started dancing there. But, by the end of the night, our entire crew was out on the beach dancing in front of the band! We all had a blast :) The beach where we were was a little more solid than a fine sand though, so that probably played a part in it.

Can you wait to get down there to make the decision? Just coming prepared with the $$.

Have you seen your reception area already? Is it the one pictured? I would wait to see how the sand is around your reception area. If it is hard and well traveled on, you may be able to pull off dancing in the sand and saving yourself $800.

I agree that slipping would be a fear.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
