Healthy fast food options...

in lieu of the BDW Biggest Loser Club and all the girls doing WW - i thought it would be fun to post healthy fast food options or how to make fast food healthy - i know so many of us are so busy and rushed!

here is mine:

Qdoba Qdoba Mexican Grill :: Fresh Burritos, Tacos, Nachos, and Salads Made to Order

i order the Chicken Fajita Burito and i order it Naked (which means in a bowl, no tortilla). they put it over rice and they use white rice which is not good for you at all so here is how i order it:

naked chicken fajita burito

over a bed of lettuce instead of rice

extra fajita veggies ($0.49)

black beans

pico de gallo

habanero (on the side)

guacamole (on the side) ($1.49)

YUMMY!

Yum that sounds good! I love Qdoba and get it almost every day for lunch!

Q for you, I've always heard brown rice is better for you, but in the grocery the other day I was comparing the back of the white and brown packages. The white had less fat and less calories per serving (same size serving). So what exactly is better about brown? More fiber or something?

I like to order a kids meal at fast food places, it's not exactly healthy, but it's way less food than a regular sized meal, plus now at lots of places you can pick a different side instead of fries, like a fruit cup or yogurt or apples. I find that after eating the kids sized meal I'm just as satisfied as if I had the big one only I'm not kicking myself for going overboard!

i love QDoba! yummmy
anway - white rice is like eating white flour - it spikes your insulin and sugars and usually makes you crave sweets about an hour or 2 later. it is brown rice with the fiber stripped off of it. really bad! you digest brown rice (or any more fiber rich food) more slowly, so it makes you feel fuller longer, helps with insulin spikes and is better for your general health.

Surprisingly the McDonalds Asian salad w/ grilled chicken is good! When I had it there was a full (hot) chicken breast on top, edamame, mandarin oranges and a packet of low fat dressing...it was excellent and only 320 calories! An awesome website to go to is Weight Loss - Restaurants - Fast Foods - Nutrition Facts - DietFacts.com There are TONS of restaurants on there from Chilis to Wendys...I like to glance at it before I leave for lunch and pre-select what I am going to have (I know...a little crazy!)

I'm addicted to Subway. They are one of the only fast food places I've found that sell good veggie burgers (I'm a vegetarian, so fast food is difficult unless I want to eat a lot of fries). At Subway, I get the veggie patty on a whole wheat roll without cheese (I don't think ithe cheese they use is that bad for you, I'm just not a fan of cheese), and honey mustard dressing (fat free).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
