We have a big guest list for a DW!!

Glenda, people are going to complain and talk about it, but I have decided I DONT CARE, its my wedding and if you like me enough and want to be there enough, it will not matter what the cost is. And, if you don't, then I don't want you there. That is my opinion, but someone said on here before, in another thread, tell your mom not to tell you the bad things people are saying, you don't need the stress. If they want to be there, they will be. And, I think that is good advice.

Jules, Ann, Anny you are all so right! After I spoke to my FI (who is very protective of my feelings) he made me feel so much better and reminded me that this is our wedding and if people don't like the idea of DW then they don't have to come. I feel so much better today. Thanks guys for your input and I'm sorry that I high jacked the thread.

I know, I'm really struggling with this as well... Everyone has their opinions, people are worried about how expensive it is, I am so worried people will get there and complain that it wasn't worth the money.

But yes, we must all remember, that we're doing this because it's our dream, and it will be gorgeous!!!!

And for me as well, no matter where I did it in the world, at least 2/3 of my guests would have to travel anyway...

So, I say, we all stick to our guns, and have the most beautiful weddings in the whole world, and forget everyone else!!!smile159.gif

I'm guessing this is not the norm for most DW couples as much of the pricing I'm coming across (e.g. Sheraton Hacienda at $75 US/person) is not going to save us any money.

Our other key concern is ensuring that Cabo is an affordable destination for our guests. Even though we are looking at AI packages for them, Cabo isn't that cheap when coming from Toronto Canada (we're seeing AI pkgs starting at $1500 and up). Do you know if travel agents are helpful in arranging group AI discounts for large wedding parties such as these (we are planning to contact someone at selloffvacations.com and maybe agent at Flight Centre).

Anyone out there that's had to plan a DW with this many guests? Recommendation on places/locations that will be able to accomodate?

Thanks!!

Hi Darlene I don't know how I missed this thread but am really late to this converstaion...i am also from Toronto and am getting married in 3 1/2 months at Dreams in cabo and my guests are paying $1800 (this includes taxes) for 1 week AI

regarding ur group rate question...selloffvacations does do group rates but its not a great deal ur only saving about $50-$100 per person (i looked into all this because I was gonna do it that way as well...at the end of it it justs turns out to b more of a hassel talking to them about getting a group rate than actually paying the regular price

I saw that u are planning on getting married april 20, 2008...that is a great time leaving from toronto caus most places are cheaper...i don't know if ur willing to look into PV or punta cana but they have some great prices....u can probably find $1200 per person

take a look at this resort...its an iberostar property in La romana dominican and its very beautiful on the smaller side with a lot of privacy and ur looking at around $1200-$1300

http://www.iberostar.com/EN/Bayahibe...icus_3_73.html

in PV the riu properties are great also...I stayed at the Riu Jalisco and really liked it but a bunch of people have said negative things about it which i disagree with but a new riu property just opened up next door and is beautiful...Riu Vallarta

Hotel*Puerto Vallarta, Mexico*Hotel Riu Vallarta

hope this helps email me if ud like more info...good luck

Hi Darlene,

We are estimating about 150 ppl (our guest list totaled more than 300) for our wedding. We are in the middle of booking Dreams Puerto Vallarta for our June/July 2008 wedding.

I agree with Edyta, you may want to reconsider the location. Overall Cabo is more expensive than PV (this is one reason why we choose PV).

Also, I've asked the WC at Dreams if prices differ for Adults and children for the wedding reception. And they do! Its about a $20 difference. (I dont want to quote prices right now because I dont have them with me so I'll try to update this later.) Now I'm making sure to consider the ages of all the children who are attending the wedding in my guest list.

PM me if you need any info on dreams PV.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
