New Riu Bride

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies, I just joined the RIU bunch. My wedding will be Sept 27 2008. My agent has been in constant contact w/ Valeria.. how long does it take before Chandalyn contacts me?

Also we are flying in on 25th but the resort says we need to be there by the 24th. has anyone had this problem w/ arrival requirements?

Thanks

Welcome!

I think for the ceremony to be legal you have to be there 2 full days before the ceremony and your traveling day does not count. I would check with Valeria and/or Chandlyn ASAP on this! Unless you are just doing a symbolic ceremony, then it may not be a big deal.

Chandlyn will eventually respond to emails but its pretty slow. I think she responds faster when your date gets closer. Just about anything you can think of has already been asked of her and the answer posted here somewhere!

Welcome!

We're at 2 months out and still haven't heard from Chandlyn, some people are in contact with her way before that. It seems kinda random to be honest.

As for the travel date/wedding date, if you're legally getting married in Jamaica you need to be there 48 hours. The Riu seems to require 72 hours, probably so they can do the organization and stuff. If you have your heart set on getting married September 27th, I would plan on arriving September 24th. The hotel is a bit flexible with the 72 hours in some cases from what I've heard but don't count on it. Also, what if you have any travel delays and don't make it to Jamaica more than 48 hours before your wedding time? That'd be a major problem.

Hope that helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
