I have to put my bridesmaids' gift bags together this week. I want to hand them out at my shower which is on Saturday... the day after my bachelorette party. I pray I'm not too hungover. LOL! :)
any luck finding jorge's ring yet? or did you go ahead and buy him a new one? you know i was thinking... since the last time you guys saw it was when you were in the DR... do you think it got stolen either from the hotel or your luggage on the way back?

i have to start putting together my BM bags in the coming week too. i'm waiting for my shipment of bridal jewelry/BM earrings to arrive (should be probably tomorrow) so that i can complete the bags. actually i was planning all along to give jose's sister her bag with goodies when she got here in july for the CC, and then wait to give her the earrings until we get to cabo. but now i'm thinking... should i just mail the other two girls their gifts in advance so i have less to take with me? then i can just give them all the earrings on the day of, and the earrings barely take up any space.

i'm super excited i registry stalked yesterday and saw that someone bought us our fancy china tea set and all our fancy silverware plus a silverware chest!

Good observation! But the ring never made it to DR. He had it on his finger, trying it on, the morning we left for the airport but took it off, cause it was too big. Grr! He thinks maybe we vacuumed it up or something OMGOSH I want to pinch his Portuguese head off! LOL.

Great idea about mailing the gifts in advance. I'm like you... the less I have to carry to this DW with me on the plane, the better! I have a few friends staying over at my parents house (5 min from me) the night before we all leave on vaca and I'm going to ask everyone if they can each carry somethign for me in their suitcase! Cause our office at home is CHOCK-FULL of wedding stuff!

Bananas!

JULY BRIDES UNITE! LOl

you know what, the only reason i wouldnt mail the stuff ahead is because what if they forget it or dont pack some of the stuff. then the whole point is wasted sad.gif unless it is truly just a BM bag and not any sort of OOT bag.

both my BMs are as anal as i am - trust me they would NOT forget it.

when jose's parents are here in july, they're going to take a bunch of his stuff like his suit, shirt, tie, shoes etc. so that he has less to take too so i can bring more stuff in our carry ons.

we just applied for our marriage license this morning!! i was so nervous the whole time.. i mean there's no real reason to be but HOLY SHIT now it actually feels real. i feel like this whole time it's just kind of felt like a really cool vacation where i get to wear a pretty dress- but now it actually feels legal and binding and FOREVER. AH. hahaha.

we also set in stone our plans for our legal day. we're legally getting married on the 4th of july at 3pm. my parents are standing for me and mike's best friend and wife are standing for him (his parents are 4 hours away). afterwards we're having delicious greek food that my parents will cook and we're gonna float in the pool all night until we go see fireworks. i'm so excited!

Hi all, another couple of weeks has flown by and I keep wanting to get on here and write. I check it through my hotmail at work but life has been busy busy.

Maura - so glad you found the ring, it's funny how you can turn a house upside down for weeks and find nothing and then one simple turn of something and lo and behold it turns up. I bet you are relieved.

Abbie - your photos are great, shower dress (the colours reminded me a bit of Maura's shower dress - greens must be in!), your sweetheart neckline etc etc.

Has anyone else felt that their social life has increased as everyone seems to want to have dinner with you before you get married?

My hens night (aka bachelorette is tomorrow night) - the theme is fairy tale meets superhero and I am wonder woman. should be hilarious. Mexican food and then the bus pub crawl. I promise to post photos.

I have had a few dramas with my wedding venue, just last week (with 4 weeks to go) she tells me that the cocktail party by the pool will be too dark and you need lighting oh and by the way you have to pay for that. First quote $2500 WTF! I went a little mental and said not a chance, so then it comes down to $841 which is ok but wait there's more. Now not allowed any glass in the pool area so therefore the bar will have to be set up outside the pool fence (in Australia pools have to be fenced) and people would have to get their drinks passed over the pool fence. was sounding tackier by the minute. So I had a small panic attack, took a few deep breaths and decided to move the reception into the function room/terrace area. Which means more work for us as we have to set it up but I will not let them get off scott free, they will be getting their hands dirty. Anyway I have decided to make the most of it and create a few different themes within the room:

- a disco area with high tables and dance floor to create a night club atmosphere

- bamboo flares in the terrace area with low tables

- chill out area with couches, bean bags, ottomons and day beds

- candy station area

- photo area

so all in all I think it will be fine but was just a bit annoyed at them for making all these last minute changes. luckily I am rather relaxed about it all and was open to moving it.

so what do I have left to do:

- programs

- guest book

- grandparents and parents wedding photos in frames for guest book signing table

- buy candy and scoops

- dentist

- nails (but will do that in the week of the wedding)

What have I just done:

had my final dress fitting on the weekend, it is now staying in the shop until just before we leave. Does anyone else try on their dress and not think it is the best thing in the world, I mean I like it but I am not totally in love with it, but with 22 days to go, I will make the most of it, perhaps when I have the make-up and jewellery and veil all together, it will do the trick.

Has anyone else been avoiding the DIY forums in the last couple of months? I have because I kept getting new ideas and wanting to do things again or think of something new to add to the wedding and my list was getting way too long and out of control so I thought best I not look at other people's amazing things whilst I need to concentrate on getting things done.

phew, sorry this has been long but I really needed a chat. I will try and post photos of the dress fitting etc. I have another dress that I am considering for the night time after all the formalities are over. will try and get a photo of that also, opinions are gratefully received.

Have a good weekend all, I am off to save the world as wonder woman..

xx

There are flips flops, the team bride tee, a candle, lip glosses, nail polish, emory board, memo pad, a magnet, and a Thank you note.

Do you think that is okay? Should I add something else to the the maids' bags? I was wondering about that?. Please advise...

When I go for the final fitting, I will post more pics....

LOVE THE PICTURES!!!

Manda - the dress thing - I just flat out started crying one day because I wasn't sure my dress was the right dress. My dear sweet hubby to be was so understanding- he asked me if I liked the dress when I first tried it on, of course I said yes, then he said it will be just perfect then, because to him, the dress won't matter at all, because he already knows exactly what I look like (on my best and worst days wink.gif and that all it is is a dress! You'll wear if for a few hours, and then never again!!!

I'm not sure if this helps, but really, I think if you liked it at one point, once you get the whole package together (hair, make-up, shoes, bra - this one can make a big difference wink.gif you'll look perfect and beautiful and nothing else will matter.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
