Reception at Margarittaville?

Recommended Posts

Ok, need some input from anyone who has been to Margarittaville in Ocho Rios. My ceremony is at 11am and lunch reception is at Mammee Bay at 12:30. Right now the plan is do the first dance and garter toss/bouquet toss at the beach gazebo right after the ceremony then do the toast/speeches at lunch. Then I was just going to tell everyone to meet at the Disco at 11 to party with us. We have lots of people who like to dance and since there are 2 other weddings the same day I'm thinking the disco will be fun.

BUT, then I started thinking that it would be even more fun to take everyone to Margarittaville that night to party. We could share taxis - there are 26 people total- and i'm sure I can find it in my budget to pay the taxi fares! Since all the formal stuff will already be done it would just be a party.

Upside- off of resort property and something different since most of guests will have probably already parties at Pascha before Saturday night.

Downside- not at all private, drinks wouldn't be free

I also considered taking everyone to Margarittaville on Friday night, but since wedding is so early the next day i don't know if that is a good idea or not. HELP!

I think you would have a lot of fun at Margarittaville, it's a very good ideal. Maybe you could email or call and make reservation for 26 person to make sure you all sit together.

I'm not sure if it's a good ideal the night before the wedding. It's a party place so people might be tired the day after.

did you see mobride's pics of margaritaville? it looks she had a great time. but it might get super expensive. i think that so many of my guests booked because they knew that it was all-inclusive so they would not be thrilled about extra costs. unless you guys are going to pay for everything, but that might break the bank.

Yea I remember seeing Mo's pics awhile ago. Maybe I will make it an optional daytime trip on another day.... Guests arrive on thursday, wedding is saturday, dunns river on sunday, they leave monday. Could do it either friday or after dunns river sunday.

anyone know how long the Dunn's River excursion lasts?

Margaritaville was really alot of fun. I think you're guests would really like it if you did it for a day trip. They could also go shopping as it is in Island Village.

I don't remember off hand how long the Dunn River tour was but I'd definitely plan on being there for a few hours, maybe 3-4.

We did the one offered on the beach by Scuba Caribe, it was the snorkelling catamaran/cruise to Dunn's River/drink rum punch! We left at 2 PM and were back by 5:00 ish... it was good!

It would be EXTREMELY expensive at Margaritaville, but it would be a blast! You could even do a TTD session down the waterslide! :)

As for the Dunn's River Falls excursion, I have been there many times and it ranged anywhere from 1.5 hours to 3 hours :) basically it could be as long or as quick as you want it to be!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
