Yes, everything worked out perfect and faster than we could have imagined.

A little bit of an update..

Thank you all for all your suggestions. They were so, so helpful! I'm so thankful for this forum.

My mom contacted the congresswoman in New Mexico, and the lady says this happens a lot. She said to just get as much information as possible, send it in, and if it still comes back rejected, to call the office again, so that' a huge relief.

My mom has contacted the school she might have gone to (grandma is not exactly sure where she went to school.. she only went to 8th grade), and she is getting the sealed baptismal certificate, and this weekend, she is getting her older sister to fill out the affidavit. It sounds like everything will work out!woot.gif

I'll post when the passport is finally in hand!

with an older living relative you can totally get this straightend out. That was a problem with my grandma's case. She's the oldest.

Sounds like you have everything you need to get it done & a state rep to help you. Your grandma will definitly get that passport!

With everything else going on I never even thought about my grandma not being able to get a passport until I read this thread. My grandma was born somewhere in SC and the building where her records were stored burned down. I am going to call her tomorrow to get the ball rolling on her passport application. We are getting married in December and she has to be there!

Thanks!!!

glad you saw this because the sooner you get going the less stressful it is. There are so many options it's just a matter of looking in to it early so you aren't worried.

good luck.

maybe we should have a sticky thread about grandmas that have deleyed birth certificates. it seems to be a common issue. I'll try to write something up.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
