Hi

We get married in just over 6wks at the Moon Palace. Dont know what to do about my bridal make up. Should I get them to do it? VCan you recommend any good brands that will be ok in the heat? Only want very natural look. Someone suggested star bronzer from Lancome? Want a really good lash enhancing mascara too-any ideas?

Thanks

EmX

I am good at doing my own makeup but want to get some ideas on colors and how to apply different shades for eye shadow. What I am doing is going to a makeup store in the mall. They have professionals that teach you how to apply the colors and also tell you the best shades for your skin tone.

I am also a big fan of bare minerals and I read in another post that itâ€s great in the heat.

Hi!

I'm a professional make-up artist in the L.A. area and would recommend the Make-up forever Mat-velvet foundations (you can vary the amount you put on and still get coverage) and cover with a thin layer of loose powder.

Armani also has an amazing foundation but can be pricey.

Mascaras which I use on my brides:

Maybelline Define-a-lash

Clinique High definition lashes.

I would recommened the NARS "Orgasim" blush - it's got a slight bronze look, goes with any skin tone and is perfect for a bride!

MAC is a great at teaching make-up applications - just becareful as they normaly pile in on the make-up but you can learn some great tips. The Chanel counter is great too!

Take a peek at my website and if you have any questions you can always email me at one of my contact emails provided.

Which type of Armani make-up do you prefer? There are a few different kinds.

I have heard that the bare mineral makeup doesn't photograph well. I don't know for sure but someone told me that it photographs whiteish because of the sun reflecting off all the powder... But again I don't know from personal experience just something maybe you should check. Go out in the sun and have someone take some pictures of you.

I've heard that too, but it has worked good for me. It's the sunscreen in it that reflects. But, I need to have on sunscreen regardless or I'll burn. So I really would like to wear it. I tested it out at a friends wedding where I was MOH so I was in lots of pictures. None looked white reflective to me. Also, Bre on the forum wore it in their wedding & the pictures looked great. I'll track down some links & pictures.

So I've decided to stick with bare minerals. I like the look of it on my skin & I like how it feels in the heat. I really don't like wearing makeup so I want to stick with something I feel comfortable in.

I too am in need of makeup advice! I think I may take some of the suggestions here and let MAC do a trial run...

One thing though, I've never worn foundation...not sure why, mainly because I'm REALLY pale so it's hard to find something for me, plus my skin has always been pretty even and smooth. Should I try doing foundation for my wedding? I'm SO scared of my skin looking cakey or fake. I guess I could start practicing now, but I really don't want to have to start wearing it every day. Will I look worse in my pictures without foundation??

OK here are my pictures with bare minerals on. I tried to pick ones with other girls in the pictures so you can compair. I'm usually pretty shiny & there is definitly some shine in the picture. I don't know much about makeup, but is a complete matte look better? maybe I can add something for more shine control at my wedding.

I'm on the left. My friend on the right has a very matte makeup & does not look shiny like me. So maybe somethng like that photographs better. Day to day I wear nothing so I like to keep it light when I do.

The bride had her makeup airbrushed on. Looking at us sidebyside I think you can see how her makeup is better than mine.

This is a close up after much sweating on the dance floor. The makeup didn't cake or anything, but I am shiny.

Overall, I'm happy with the look of bareminerals. But, I may not be the pickiest when it comes to how I look. I would like to try to reduce the shine if possible. Also, I don't see a white glow but can anyone else? I may not know what to be looking for.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
