How did the airlines handle your wedding dresses?

Recommended Posts

The women at the bridal salon where I bought my dress said to hang it up in the bathroom when I first get to Mexico - that way the steam will take out the wrinkles. I don't know if it will work but I am def. gonna try!

I have been worried about this too. I actually started a thread about it. I found out the airline I am traveling on doesn't even have a captins closet so any hope of storing it in a closet is out of the question. I too am going to have to fold it. We are sitting with our friends so hopefull we can maximize the overhead storage. I was wondering if anyone knows if Sandals does have a steamer. I read somewhere that you had to send it out if you want to have it done. I am not sure i want to mess with doing that. I will prolly just end up hanging it in the bathroom and hope for the best.

I flew air jamaica and I didn't even ask to hang it up in first class. Our flight was not full so I just put my garment bag in the overhead bin. It folds in half so it's pretty compact. When I got to Jamaica I took it out of the bag and hung it in th closet. There wasn't a wrinkle on it when I put in on. I wish I didn't stress so much about this before cuz it worked out fine. I brought a travel steamer just in case and no one needed it.

I agree, dont underestimate the power of Jamaican humidity! LOL! I have never enjoyed such wrinkle-free clothing in all my life! wink.gif

On another note though, make sure you bring lots of hair clips for days other than your wedding day! My hair is stick straight but in the humidity it was trying to find some sort of wave or something, I dont know what it was doing, but I had little flyaway frizzy hairs all over my head. It was up in a clip all week! wink.gif

it is so humid in Jamaica that I am sure it won't be hard for the wrinkles to come out if you end up with any.
What??!!?? How did you manage to get that service? We're flying Sky Service this Saturday and I've called the airline twice about my gown and both times they've told me there is nothing that they can do as far as hanging it somewhere safe for me. They said I'll have to put the dress and suit in the overhead and ask other passengers not to put their bags in the same compartment! Any advice so I can get this service as well?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
