I had a good/terrible weekend depending on how you look at it. Our boss took us out to Ruby Tuesday on Friday. I have the worst experiences at this restaurant. I got the chicken salad and it was really yummy.

Got back to work and about an hour later I had the worst stomach cramps.... I stood up and I felt like my butt was going to explode(TIM sorry)! i spent the Entire afternoon in the bathroom at work. I was mortified and embarrassed to no ends. I finally got the courage to go home and that's when the puking started... i tried to take an imodium pill with some water and I couldn't even keep that down. Then I decided to go to sleep, well that didn't work out because I got this head splitting head ache. It was bad... i was crying, shaking and in severe pain.

Our neighbor ended up taking me to the doctor, i didn't think I could make it myself. Doc said I possibly got food poisoning. Not necessarily from the way the food was cooked but rather the way it was prepared. So someone didn't wash the lettuce properly or wash their hands (EW!). Yesterday I was doing better.... but not great. I still spent alot of time in the bathroom.

Bottom line I think I lost alot of weight but it isn't good weight to lose. I haven't been able to eat since Friday and now I am hungry. This weekend I wasn't hungry at all... but now I want FOOD! Real food too not the "BRAT" (bananas, rice, apple sauce, toast) diet that the doc told me to follow. I want a nice sandwich or something. I'm at work and I'm terrified if I eat something I will end up in the bathroom again sad.gif

Aww Melissa I am so sorry you got food poisoning. That is awful. I think you should stay away from Ruby Tuesday's it seems to bring you nothing but problems. Maybe try eating something small and work your way up to see how your stomach will feel. I really hope you feel better soon.

I think I did pretty well this weekend. I've noticed when the weather is warmer I don't eat as much. Plus, I had a pretty busy weekend which didn't leave much time to eat. While I was cleaning I went through some old Shape magazines and ripped out some of the workouts that I want to try.

Good for you! Do you have any good workouts you want to share? I need some good ones so I can change up my routine.

~MINI VENT: Okay my worst nightmare came true. I am plateauing. I cannot for the life of me lose an ounce! I started incorporating weight training so I don't know if that has anything to do with it but all of a sudden I am much hungrier and have less motivation to do anything. The fact that my weight is not budging is making the little devil on my shoulder keep nagging me to go eat a cheeseburger to feel better. Ughhhh!! Summer is almost here! rant.gifrant.gifrant.gif

Okay now that my rant is done I wanted to tell you guys about a plan I came up with. I don't know if its going to work but I'm going to try my best. I have a barbecue this weekend and 2 more coming up in the weeks to follow. These things can be very dangerous. So I came up with a plan with FI to try to stay healthy. I am going to bring my own cooler. FI bartends at night and he is going to make me a huge cooler of Crystal Light (5 calories) with vodka. I don't like strong drinks to begin with, so he really won't put a lot of vodka in it. This way I can drink but at least I won't drink binge on beer or other fatty liquor drinks.

I absolutely love cheeseburgers and I know I won't be able to resist. So FI is going to bring me whole wheat hamburger buns, fat free american cheese (30 calories per slice) and a healthier version hamburger patty. FI promised to cook it for me so that this way I can enjoy the barbecue as well but not eat something ridiculously fattening.

I am also going to bring my 10 calorie jello snack packs in case I want a snack. This is my plan for a healthier barbecue. I don't know if its going to work but I'm going to try my best, and I figured I would share in case anyone else wanted to try it instead.

Some other options we came up with:

Drinking liquor with zero calorie, zero carb soda like Sprite or coke.

Bringing fresh strawberries to blend in the blender and adding tequila to make natural margaritas, instead of using the margarita mix that is chock full of added sugar and carbs.
Good tips Glenda! I made a really good drink this weekend, I took a lemon and I squeezed all of the juice into a glass and then I took a packet of sweet and low and sprinkled about half in the glass, and I added vodka & club soda. It was so good! It was so nice out this weekend I really wanted a refreshing drink and it was perfect.

Crystal light & vodka is one of my favorite drinks! I might just have that this weekend at the b-day party I have to attend.

Also Glenda, I'm sure there will be some salad there too, just try to make healthy choices and bringing your own stuff so you don't have to worry about making bad choices is a fantastic idea.

I know you say you're frustrated but you're doing so well and you'll probably still have a huge weight loss this week because you are doing great!!

BTW, I got your text the other day, thank you for the encouragement! I'm sorry I'm such a crappy buddy, you're always helping me out and encouraging me!

Mel, I'm sorry you got so sick!! you know what's funny, well not really funny, but coincidental, I used to go to Ruby Tuesday a lot because it was close to work and I liked to get the salad bar. Everytime I ate there I had really bad stomach cramps and ended up in the bathroom. I didn't get as sick as you did by any means, but after a few times of this happening to me I decided not to eat there anymore. I was wondering if they wash the salad with something that could be upsetting to my stomach because it was almost instant I'd get back to the office and I'd be in the bathroom and my lunch would be gone (sorry if thats TMI!)

Eeew sorry to be gross but I skeeve salad bars. I'm a little bit of a germaphobe.

Well thanks to Maura I've decided I'm going to bring a chicken and just grill it instead. I might bring some shrimp too, that would be yummy.

Unfortunately Jill I know there won't be any salad. These are not salad type people. They eat unhealthy food all the time. LOL.

So I haven't been very active on the board the last week cause life has been hectic for me. I had three events last week in the evenings that I was managing. The walk is coming up in two weeks and needless to say I am busy. In addition, my boss quit and I am going for her position. There has been a lot of political stuff going on with that and making me freak out.

Long story short I have not been eating right or exercising at all. I bailed out on my trainer last week and threw all my healthy eating habits out the window. I am expected a gain tomorrow, but I am ready for it.

I know I can do this!

I am proud of myself cause my coworkers were going to go to Tommy's Burgers (greasy chili burgers) for lunch and I said no. I am going to Wahoo's instead and now they are all coming. LOL. Yay, for eating and staying healthy.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
