Etiquette Help- Response Cards!

Okay, my best friend is a wedding planner and I love her dearly. She has given me tons of wonderful advice and can always count on her for splendid ideas.

 

But we are having an issue.

 

I know proper etiquette is to send response cards...of course if we were getting married here, I would do that. But because I already know all the people that are going and they have already booked, I don't think I should do it because it would really just be a waste of money....

 

I am really only sending out invites so family members can have one. They aren't planning on going, but I know they would want an invitation anyhow.

 

Your thoughts?

I didn't. 1/2 the people don't even return them. I don't think it's at all improper not to send them since you aren't really asking people to rsvp.

Here's my thoughts- the day you chose a DW traditional went out the window. All of the rules did too. I think RSVPs are useless and I'm the first to admit I didn't send them back for all of my friend's weddings. I was the "well you already know i'm coming" guest. I'm sorry for that now that I'm on the other side.

 

Save the money and get something cool to wear on the trip.

I agree... RSVP cards don't really serve a purpose for destination weddings.

In your case it doesn't sound like you need to send response cards.

 

Unfortunately, for me I need to. Sigh!

I am glad I am not only on my thinking....I know it's all about etiquette. But I agree, we aren't doing much traditional.

I was contemplating the same thing. Because I'm sending out the info to evereyone (lot of family I don't know their e-mails) We have a wedding website too.. So, I'd like to know who is booking but I'm figuring I'll find that out from my TA or word of mouth. Plus we are having an at home reception so I know we'll be sending out RSVP cards then.

 

I'm just wondering if it's ok to put our e-mail as an RSVP for Mexico or put up something on our website?? Are there really people out there still that don't use computers??

Maybe you can just put a note to RSVP online or via email? If you really know exactly who is coming and who isn't then I don't really see why it's necessary. But just in case someone changes their mind?

 

if you have a lot of time you could do one of those free business cards type things from VistaPrint with this info on it and just match it to your invite and send it out. But only if you really want to!

i agree with everyone else...i don't think you need to do response cards
