Back from my wedding at the Barcelo Maya

Recommended Posts

Hey brides! I just got done reading... did anyone experience any major issues with the wedding/reception going wrong? I'm concerned because I have an outside wedding planner in Riviera Maya and Ana, Gabriela, and Pilar (the group reservations manager) are impossible to get in touch with. Also does anyone have the outside wedding coordinator policies and list of vendors they use? We aren't putting down our deposit till we have those two things. I'm stressing hard core, we plan on getting married in May 09 and the clock is ticking...

I'm afraid I didn't use an outside planner, so I am not sure. But I don't think I'd recommend it because they have quite strict policies for the vendors that are not part of the hotel plan, and I don't know how an outside planner would be able to organize the hotel people. Ana did a great job for me of organizing everyone at the hotel....

I didn't have trouble getting in touch with them. Maybe try calling once just to make sure you have the address right?

Good luck!

Thanks! Kevin and I definitely decided to go with BMP but now we're waiting on confirmation of our date May 24, 2009 6:30pm!!! I'm so nervous, I hope that date is still available. Also, I've read all your posts and they were all very helpful to me, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I also got to see some of your wedding pictures and they look fabulous!! I know the emails I have are correct because the wc's have responded to me before... please keep your fingers crossed!!!!!!!!worried2.gif

Fantastic, good luck!!! It will be great.

The WC I had, was fantastic, and always got back to me pretty quickly, I hope you have the same experience. I was so impressed because when I showed up on my first day a few days before the wedding, I went to meet with her, and she had ALL my emails printed out, with things highlighted, so I know she was paying attention.

Also, she was the one the made everything go smoothly in a Mexican resort that was NOT good at organizing for 80 people, haha. She distributed all the OOT bags personally because the receptions messed it up, she organized the mariachis when they didn't show up, and we didn't even know that happened! She sorted out the problems with the hotel dividing our guests into two hotels accidentally, she did it all, so if yours is anything like her, you have NOTHING to worry about. :)

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
