Delta Airlines - WTF?

My parents booked their flight to Cabo on Delta Airlines a few months ago at a really great price. My brother finally decided to get his arse in gear and book his today, so he put me in charge of trying to get on their flight. I call Delta and the first thing they tell me was that in order to be on their very same flight, he would need to pay double. Yeah right; Continental is half that and a non-stop!

Then, right before I let go of the operator she says, "umm wait, there's a problem with your parents return flight. It doesnt exist anymore". WTF? I asked her what "doesnt exist" means, and she says "well the return flight has stopped operating on Tuesdays. They need to come back Monday or Wednesday..."

My biggest problem with this: I NEVER RECEIVED A CONFIRMATION OF ANY CHANGES FROM THEM! Were they ever going to let us in on this?

Imagine my parents going to the airport expecting their normal schedule and being told "sorry, you have to come back one day early or one day later"

Anywho, I went bridezilla on the many reps they connected me too and got a refund. They are all booked on Continental now, which is the only airline I fly because their customer service is great!

My mom had this problem with Delta for our wedding... she booked at a great price nonstop over the summer... well in late November, they cancelled the direct flight and made it a 1 stop through Atlanta. My mom hates flying. A nonstop was her only saving grace. So she called Delta to try and get a refund - they refused. When she told them she has ear problems and couldn't deal with a connecting flight, they told her to DRIVE to Atlanta! What kind of customer service is that!!!

Glad to hear you got a refund and booked elsewhere! Delta sucks.

What sucks about this is that you probably paid extra to ensure a nonstop. How is that ok for them to sell you something then later completely change it? I know they have the ability to make changes but shouldn't they just be minor changes. IF they are major then the customer deserves a refund of some costs.

Anyways I'm glad everything worked out in the end.

I happened to go online to Delta to try to get one of our guests on our group flight. I then noticed that they changed the flight times & flight numbers for our group. The flight time changed to 1 hour earlier than originally scheduled. Needless to say, I never received a call, or email notifiying me of any changes. Now I'm anal & check like everyweek for schedule & flight # changes. I'll be checking up until the week we leave. I can't imagine not knowing this & all of my guests showing up an hour LATE!!!!

What I don't get is why they ask you for so much contact info when you make a reservation, but then they don't use that info to let you know when there's a change.

I then went back online to update my preferences & saw that they only notify you of any changes only up to 3 days prior to your departure.bann.gif

It's insane what the airlines are allowed to get away with!

There was one client that I kept getting changes for- about 3 a day for two weeks- each change was only about a minute to 15 minutes- back & forth, back in forth! Talk about driving you nuts- I had to check each change to be sure we didn't have a disconnect......oh vey, the things our clients don't know that we deal with behind the scenes!

My mom ended up taking the connecting (because they didn't give her a choice) and when she got to the airport for the return flight, they said she didn't have seats booked. As bad as an airline can be in the US, in Jamaica it was worse. Everything worked out and she made it there and back, but I don't think she'll EVER fly Delta again. And yes, I know this is not only Delta, but their customer service was really atrocious (sp?).

Totally! smile120.gif

You know, customer service really is key with specific airlines! I booked my own flight about 9 months in advance and Continental changed my return non-stop to a one-stop, but at least they had the courtesy of advising me that this happened months in advance and multiple times!
(email & voice messages!)

Delta completely removed a flight from their pattern and didnt say boo!!
I cant believe its such a common problem with them specifically!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
