What do you want to know from us Married Gals?

Recommended Posts

Hi Natasha, Have a quick question for you about Casa Del Mar. Did you have to pay extra for the candles around the pool or were they included...Did a site vist last may with Maye and meet Claudia and they told me they do the candles around the pool and tiki torches...but was a bit confused about if they charged extra on that. Don't they also have lighting already on the covering at the Beach Club? Casa Del Mar takes credit card to pay for location right? I'm not booking rooms, so I know I have to pay location fee and food and beverage. Maye seems really nice. I'm planning on getting married June 2008 (My mom and I did a site visit in May thinking we were going to have wedding July 2007 but FI and I changed our minds on date)(Now we (FI and I) are going to Cabo this Aug. so i can introduce him to Maye and hopefully book Casa Del Mar for June 2008.

Sorry long Message

CDM has some tiki torches. I thought it was plenty and i was not charged for them.

CDM also puts candles around the pool. I had a $72 charge from Maye for candles, but I think that those were little tea candles for the table and for inside the centerpieces. Just send Claudia an email at some point and have her confirm that tiki torches and candles around the pool are included (with a picture of what you're expecting). And, yes, they have lighting for the beach club.

CDM does take credit card.

Make sure that Maye will be there in August. She usually leaves for the month.

Ok so heres another one for you guys!smile124.gif

Not sure if someone asked already so sorry if you did, but, as far as the actual marriage goes, do any of you feel that there is a difference in your relationships now that you are hubby and wife? Have heard that no matter how much you think it wont, the day to day dynamics change? True?

Thanks guys!

Oh yeah, things changed for us! It was definitely in a good way, though. There is so much more security and trust in our relationship - not that there wasn't before, but it just gets deeper once you are married and have that commitment. Personally, I think things should change a bit - marriage is about connecting two people, on every level.

I will say, also, that we didn't live together before we were married, so things were quite different from that perspective, too. We had tons of fun coming back from the honeymoon and setting up my house together, unpacking his things, using new wedding gifts, etc. I think it just adds an extra dimension if the living together part is new, too. (Don't worry, I'm not flaming anybody for living together first! I know tons of people do that, I'm just saying it worked well for us...)

would you recommend getting a signed contract from the hotel with a detailed and itemized list of inclusions/exclusions?? My biggest fear is getting there and finding out that we have an extra billion dollars to fork out for things that we assumed were going to be included...huh.gifsmile41.gif

Funny Day to be asking this. I have a beef with my Hubby right now, which I will post separately the the venting section!!!!

We lived together before we got married, so that part doesn't feel different. But what is a weird adjustment is the sharing money thing. It is really hard to get used to. Before, you have your money and he has his money. Now there is always a discussion about spending money, saving money for a house, all of your debts are now one debt. That stuff is an adjustment. Our relationship? That part is great. it does feel great to have that commitment and know the other person has commited to growing old with you. It is a really nice secure feeling and I often think, while snuggling on the sofa on a sunday morning, how wonderful it is that we have the love & support for each other that we have.

About a week before we left, I emailed mariana a pretty little itemized invoice in excel of all of the charges I expected to pay. She loved it and thanked me for doing her job for her. I felt better because I created it, so there were no surprises. And in the end there weren't! I did the same for Maye Cortinas, my wedding coordinator. I also brought printed copies of all e-mails where they confirmed the invoices were correct, just in case. I recommend printing out all of your e-mail correspondence regarding those important things. Menu, prices, special things they agreed to do (that may be conviently forgotten).

Ok...my question is about your dresses! How important was your dress the day of the wedding? I HATE my dress now---and am VERY upset about it...but don't think I can just throw away $1200 and get a new one. Are you having so much fun that I probably won't worry about my stupid dress? Or was that a HUGE part and I am going to have a crappy day?? crybaby2.gif

It's definitley not going to ruin your day. And with hair, make-up and jewelry, it might all come together really well. What is it about your dress you hate?

Hate is a strong word and if you really feel that way and you are not going to feel beautiful the day of because of it, then I, personally, would got to David's bridal or somewhere like that and see if you can find something less expensive that you like. You could try to sell your new dress on Ebay and I'm sure you'll get something for it. There are lots of brides out there that would love to find an unworn designer gown, sold at a discount. That is somebody's dream dress. Maybe just not yours.

It is a beautiful dress, but not the style I had in mind. I am not sure why I ended up getting it...I just loved every dress I tried on and I had tried on for 3 weeks. When I put this one on, his mom and sister starting crying, my mom LOVED it, and my dad's face turned really red (which means he loved it)...but what I didn't realize at the time was I CAN'T dance in it!! It has that off the shoulder sleeve thing in lace, so I can't raise my arms up. I LOVE dancing and that is the most important thing...espeically since Eric and I love to twirl around and be crazy.

The second thing I don't like is the neck line...I had pictured more of a halter or V-like neck line. AND I LOVE sparkle ...the more beads and sparkle the better :) This dress just has a little along the top with the lace and on the side.

Third, at my alteration appointment last night...the lady told me it is too hard to do that double bussle (whatever that is called) I can only the a single one which only puts my dress under once and touching the floor like a normal dress. I want poof in my trunk :) But she told me with this dress it just wouldn't work right and be too hard to do.

I was balling last night when I got home! Eric was super sweet...he told me we can go and get another dress..."F" the money. But that is a lot of money to me. I was thinking of maybe finding a "lesser" fancy dress and wearing that when we come home for our other reception here. I just don't want this dress thing to ruin my day! I am so mad at myself for getting it now. It is a pretty dress, and I am sure I look good in it, but what was in my head and the dresses I keep seeing on you girls, has me upset that I listen to everyone else and just gave in to quickly.

I do like the ebay thing...do you think I can get a dress and have it altered in less than 3 months? Or is that cutting it too close?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
