Mellisa I noticed you changed your name but I knew it was you hehehe. By the way I love your new signature pic its so Springy and pretty.

LeShay was not kidding when she said beware of the prices for flowers. Since Im not a big flower person but knew I wanted flowers for our centerpieces I specifically asked for flowers that are easy to get and low cost options. The prices still didnt seem normal (rather inflated), but to have piece of mind I wanted them done by the resort so I would not have to worry. What do I know about arrangements/flowers NOTHING!

Ok so here is the example of how I want them to look in a low vase bunched together

Using chartreuse roses in some and white in others (for an every other table sort of thing)

I bought these wine holders (clearance at Michaels there were only 2) which Im bringing with me and turning them into vases. I was thinking of putting one on the escort table and the other on the signature table. These vases are what started the damask theme I now have.

In the above damask vases I have asked to put white and purple irises in them

I want to share some info about centerpieces and am trying to figure out how to use photobucket--so this make take me a few posts to figure out...

I wanted to have the short square vases with tightly clustered coral roses similar to the photo nenamomo posted. Elisa sent me the vase options from the florist and I don't love any of them. She said it would be $70 per centerpiece. I told her I wanted to keep it around $50 and asked exactly how many roses I would get for $70 compared to $50. Her answer: 16 roses for $70 and 10 for $50.

The bouquet I want is a tight cluster of coral and peach roses with jasmine scattered throughout. She said this would be $100.

Nenamonon- I really love the damask wine holders that inspired you. Very chic.

Will try and post photos of vase options and inspiration for my bouquet.

Those of you who are bringing your own vases and gift bags and other stuff that simply takes up so much packing space, how are you transporting it all?

Are family or friends bringing extra suitcases for you? Just curious.

Sorry, keep thinking of more to say and should have done it all in one post....ban.gif

Nenamomo- I think your ideas for centerpieces are great. I love the chartreuse roses. I too want the short vase so people can communicate across the table without the flowers interfering.

Missy- (cute new name) the spreadsheets you posted have been really helpful. I don't know what I would have done without all that info and a guide to map out my own. Thanks!

I leave Wednesday!!!!! Does anyone have any particular questions that I could help with or specifics to check out while I am there? I'll be back with the answers by April 15th.

I am sooo excited for you! Hard to believe that you are leaving on Wednesday, sounds like you are just putting together all the finishing touches..

I was thinking that the second vase from the left looks pretty short - what if you had 10 roses in those? I think that would look nice - perhaps they could add a little greenery if there was sparce spots..

I think I have decided against carting down all my centrepieces - not sure I want to have to pack anything else - my FI is already rolling his eyes when I tell him all the stuff we need to take (And it's 8 months away!)

Glad to hear that the spread sheets helped - they certainly helped me get a better perspective of what costs might look like!

So exciting!!! When do you leave? Is there anything we can do?

By the way, my TA is a STAR - she convinced the Paradisus to comp us rooms in the Royal Service since that's where we're staying for the wedding! Woo hoo!

BECKS - Way to go on the comped room! Go Star!

JHOF - Congratulations again! Your flower choices are beautiful!

I just bought a large suitcase downtown LA for some stuff, and I'm having the rest of the stuff brought down by my BMs.

I've decided to do silk flowers! I found a silk flower district downtown LA, with the most amazing selection and quality. I bought all the flowers for EVERYONE, and one of my BMs Mom is going to arrange them (she's a professional silk person :) We're arranging them Tonight, so I'll post pictures when we're done. I'm still torn about the center piece, I found something, that could work but now I need the base - And I definately don't want to lug 9-10 glass vases down there, so I'm waiting to here from Elisa how much it would cost just for the base rental.

JHOF - Do you have the e-mail address to the Paradisus florist?

Again, Have a Great Time down there! You've worked really hard, and IT WILL ALL WORK OUT! :)

Oh Michele! I LOVE YOUR IDEA! I'm going back to Michaels for the umpteenth time tonight! Are you doing silk or real flowers?

What's everyone doing for favors?

No favors for us - our OOT bags are going to be filled with some more substantive things - hats mugs, picture albums, pool floats, etc, plus we'll have fans at the ceremony so we figured favors would just be more stuff to lug around.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
