Paradisus Riviera Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Oh, and we officially have 23 booked, which includes my FH and I. There should be at least two more and I keep a very close eye on the prices, so I'm hoping we'll get at least a few more. I am very sad that my one aunt and uncle couldn't come (she couldn't get the time off work), but what can you do.

I picked up my dress on Saturday. I originally didn't want a veil (i thought I would spend too much time fussing with it in the wind) but I tried it on with a veil and I felt much more like a bride, so i think i will go with one. I can always take it off it it bugs me. When I ordered it, it was a bit too small, but it fit perfectly on the weekend, so I am glad those painful hours at the gym and with the trainer paid off!
Congrats, what photog did you go with? I looked into one but it was looking like when i was done with all the expenses $6000. He wanted 4 nights in Mex. hotel and flight for him and his assistant, for 10 hours of photos and trash the dress the next day.
I thought it sounded great but...more then my entire time in Mex with flight will cost.
Can you give me direction with yours? have you heard bad things from the photog they have at the hotel?

Congrats on your dress! I wanted to do a veil but I thought it was too much with my dress. One thing that other girls have mentioned is glueing on really small fishing weights on the bottom to prevent it from blowing around too much in the wind. That way you won't have to worry about it!

Strangely we have 23 booked too! Today was our last day for RSVPs but I forgot it was Columbus day (doh)! So we'll see if anyone else decides to come! I've set my "numbers" deadline for Sunday...if you RSVP after that and I don't have OOT extras oh well... ( I feel so mean!)

As far as photogs...I don't think I've heard anything bad but we wanted LOTS of coverage and a TTD which seemed to be really expensive through the resort. We know our photogs from work and one of my best friend's wedding so they cut us a deal. Otherwise we would probably be using one down there. I KNOW one of the other girls on here used the hotel photogs but I can't remember who it was! Try checking out the review threads...its might be in there! :)

Can you give me ideas of who your using? is there someone else in cancun that someone recommends. I have found a few photog in the US that are great but by the time i sent them an assistant for 4 days and pay the package its too much.

Hi,

We decided to use Samuel Luna as our photographer (our wedding isn't until June 2010 so I don't have any photos). We looked into Del Sol Photography but they were a little too expensive for us. We also looked into Elizabeth Medina but she wasn't available for our date. Samuel Luna is a Mexico based photographer and his rates are pretty reasonable. i don't know too much about him but his portfolio was enough to impress me.

Hi,

Well I posted this in the main forum and didn't get any information so I thought I would try here.

We have decided to have a civil ceremony, but we were hoping to add a few things to the ceremony such as a sand ceremony or a reading. Has anyone had any experience witht eh civil ceremony or has talked to someone about what the civil ceremony consists of. Would we be able to add or change anything?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We will be having our civil ceremony in December so I can give you some details once I get back. We are planning on adding a sand ceremony and readings as well. My understanding is that you can design it however you want. I'm also planning a site visit in November and we are going to try and meet with our official. I'll let you know what I find out.

Perla told me that if your photogs stay at the resort then there is no fee. If they only come in for the day then you need to pay for the extenal vendor fee which I think is $300. Although...you could always "pretend" that they were one of your wedding guests. There are tons of "loop holes" you just need to be willing to negotiate.

we are debating between two photog. one is mexican the other we will fly in but I think by next week we'll know thanks for the tip Sarah. I will try to get over the $300 fee.

are you using the photog the hotel recommends? If i heard good things about him I would be more comfortable but the web site was less then desirable.

My travel agent told me she had a bride just come back from her wedding and her photog. from MX had his camera held together with duck tape and she was so disappointed by that.

my travel agent said be sure the person you get is good. I also think I am not going to do a photo album out there because it might take a little more time then I'd like.

Hi ladies! Just checking in on my Paradisus brides as I get close to my 1 year anniversary!

We flew our photogs in and because they were "paying guests" at the hotel - we didn't have to waive the fee. I don't think there is a minimum number of nights or anything.. I think one is probably sufficient.

In terms of the ceremony - we did the legal ceremony and included our own vows and a sand ceremony. I had written everything up ahead of time for both of those and given them to Perla.

The ceremony is pretty standard - the judge does some welcoming remarks, the legal stuff, asks both of us questions for the "I Do" - then we did exchange of vows and rings, then the sand ceremony, then the pronouncement.

Does that help?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
