Date set...finally. Monday, May 23, 2011 at Now Jade Riviera Cancun. I feel a ton of weight lifted off my shoulders since I received the confirmation. Hopefully, I'll get some resort rates for my guests soon, so that they will all be pleased and I will be a little less stressed.

Thank you all for the encouragement. I finally just "let it go" with pleasing everyone. Funny how people can make you feel that the wedding is not really about the bride and groom and more about them and their needs.

Hope all are having a pleasant week!

Congratulation Jen. I've heard good things about that resort.

I received an email today from Daniella. She was supposed to have attached the Now calculator but didn't so I emailed her back saying there was no attachment.

Apparently for the cocktail hour that is included in the packages it is with waiters that bring you drinks or you could pay extra (depening on the package ... $441 for the Now to Eternity and $350 for the Divine) to have a designated bar set up with a bartender. I think we'll just go with the waiters that comes with it. As long as there are drinks, right??!!

She is also giving me prices on centerpieces and bouquets. wow! They are around $100-200 a piece! Yowza!! We may have to play that by ear.

Still no menu options but she says they are working on it.

Spoke to my TA that was there over the weekend and had dinner with the wedding coordinators and manager Monday night. He said we have absolutley nothing to worry about and they all know what they are doing and the place is beautiful. They are planning on doing millions of dollars in renovations. He said that by the time I am there that possibly 100 rooms will be done and the mattresses will be getting replaced as that is a big complaint I have heard. He said the food is fantastic.

When he asked them about the slow responses and not having all the pricing, they responded saying that they have so many weddings and they prefer for you to just plan everything once you get there, which I've heard from lots of other brides. I know the thought makes me nervous but it seems to be the way things go down there.

A little over 3 weeks before we go down for our site visit!!

Hello,

Is the resort charging you extra per guest who books through something like Expedia rather than through your travel agent even if they are staying at the resort? I was just told this is the policy. Are you experiencing the same ridiculousness?

Thanks,

Sarah

That does seem ridiculous. What are they charging you extra for? Like dinner are you talking about? I know the wedding packages only include up to 25 guests.

Do you know if I'm paying for a day pass for my guests that aren't staying at the resort, does this include their dinner too? You'd think yes since it's $95 but who knows! I suppose they can charge whatever they want.

No, this is separate from the Romance package. We are already paying per person on that front and this would be over and above that cost.

The day pass does not include anything for the wedding. The per person cost would still be expected for those guests you pay $95 for.

So dumb!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
