I know I should have more faith in Perla and that's what everyone says, but each time we communicate she leaves something out so again I sit and wait days for her response. This time I'm waiting for her to confirm the amount of our payment and we are supposed to pay at the end of the week.

Couple questions for those who can answer - What's the best way to pay? Wire transfer, card credit form, etc? Also, did anyone have a contract that includes Perla or a rep from the resort's signature on it? There's a place for us to sign on our quote, but no where for them to sign. Since it is quite a big transaction, I'd be more comfortable if it were a 2-way contract. Any thoughts?

I apologize for the rant, but we're getting down to the wire and I don't have everything confirmed. I just keep telling myself it will all get done and be OK. Let's hope!

Thanks!
Brooke
Brooke:

I can't emphasize this enough: Pay by credit card!!!! If you pay by wire transfer and anything goes wrong, you have no recourse. Perla is very, very good and chances are nothing will go wrong, but if they do, it's better to have an arbiter in the form of a CC company than to have to fuss with the hotel over charges.

Hey Brooke, we used an ipod and actually our own bose docking station for the speakers and it worked out great. My brother made our playlists, but we did one for during dinner and then a separate dance playlist for after dinner and then had a third list as a back up that was a mix of faster and slower music. It worked out great. We also did the buffet and our best man and moh did their toasts when it seemed like everyone had settled in to dinner. So, everyone was probably almost finished. I felt like it was a good time for them and then we did our first dance right after that and then cut the cake.

And I totally second Becks~ the tres leches cake was FANTASTIC!

Hey Paradisus Brides,

Brooke I did as others said and paid by credit card. We only had put down a small deposit prior to our arrival. Besides, you may decide to add or take away when you meet with Perla to go through eveything once you arrive. Ugh the anticipation is killer I remember the feeling well but try and hang in there. You will be a priority once you are on the property.

Steve & Julia- We did not do a honeymoon registry but I have a friend who is currently using one called thebigday and i purchased her gift. It's cute I gifted the couple with a romantic dinner in their bungalow overlooking the water. There were several cool gifts like snorkeling, meals, a hotel night, all sorts of things. As a guest it was really easy to do.

Terry and I just booked our return trip to Paradisus for the last week in January- I can't wait! I am already counting down the days. :)

Have fun planning everyone!

Steve and Julia we have used travelersjoy and so far we have been very pleased. It was VERY easy to set up a regsistry and a lot of people have found it fun to buy us non traditional gifts.

Also, we are planning on doing our site visit in two weeks. If anyone wants specific pictures of anything let me know and I'll see what I can do to post....

Thanks, girls, for the credit card advice. It's odd that Perla asked me to pay by November 1st when we won't arrive until the 10th. We have a meeting scheduled with her on the 11th and I've already proposed that we make the payment then once everything is finalized. I haven't heard back from on whether that's OK and here it is November 2.

Does anyone know if we need to get money exchanged once we arrive? Is the Cancun Airport the best place? The staff will take american dollars, right? Anything else we should know about moneyhuh.gif Thanks!

We decided to do a charity registry through justgive.org instead of gift or honeymoon registry.

Thanks!

Brooke

Don't even worry about getting pesos. Just take lots of small bills ($1 and $5) and you'll be set. Everyone we met was happy to accept US currency, from the taxi drivers to bars, etc. Plus you can always use plastic. And when you pay for things in US $, you'll get change back in pesos (legally they have to), so you'll have some before long.

Oh, and all the ATMs dispense pesos, and your bank will give you better exchange rates than a currency exchange window, so if you really want pesos, use the nearest ATM.

Hey girls,

So I emailed Perla and moved my ceremony time from 5pm to 4:30, as I was concerned about the sun setting before we get a chance for photos. I asked her for suggestions for any type of performance and her response was tango dancers or any kind of performance. Not exactly the help I was looking for. I am starting to get stressed out, as I feel like time is flying by and I'm not getting anything done! Why can't I be organized like Missy??

I emailed Ajua weddings about performers, but they only deal with you if you have them plan your wedding. Does anyone have suggestions? I was thinking some type of Aztec dancers or something along those lines? I know I can't have fire dancers. Also, I can make up my mind for music for the ceremony and the cocktail hour. I am using Mania for the reception, but I would really like something live for the ceremony and cocktail. I think I want a Mariachi for the cocktail, but I'm not sure they would be appropriate for the ceremony. If I bring someone else in for the ceremony, that means another outside vendor fee. Any help?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
