Hi girls -- checking in on the whole closings situation.

FI's aunt (our TA) put in lots of calls yesterday regarding all thatâ€s going down. I was adamant about the fact that had I wanted to use a hotel that only offered a buffet, no entertainment, etc, then I would've booked at some other random place and not spent 10s of thousands of dollars so that my guests could have the experience that I was promised by the Paradisus. I did not want a return trip, nor did I want my money back. If the nice amenities were not going to be available during our wedding week then I wanted to change locations. (Truthfully I LOVE the PRC and really want to stay!! Especially now that I have all of my wedding details in order, you know? But I tried to play the tough guy so I could get some answers).

Anyhow, I finally got an email last night forwarded from our aunt. It was from Miguel Elias, the Director of Services at the PRC. He promised that by the time we come in July everything will be back in full swing and all amenities, restaurants, etc will be working regularly. Apparently, they have closed the ME Cancun which is located North of our resort, and all of their clientele is being redirected to the PRC. This should increase occupancy and allow everything to operate as it regularly does.

I'm *hoping* that this is true! Really, really hoping ..... Of course the cynic in me says that they can totally just be saying that so that they don't lose out on more business, but I'd like to believe that its the honest truth.

On a side note, has anyone heard from Perla? I emailed her over a week ago now and havenâ€t heard anything.

Ok everyone, I am super stressed out! So I’ve been holding off reserving a day so that I could see what prices would be and pick the most reasonable cost wise in January 2010. I finally decide to go with the week of Jan 17th-24th and emailed Perla on Tuesday to confirm the 21st is available (haven’t heard back yet, so I phoned and left a message today as well).

So my TA got me a quote that I think is pretty good through Sunquest. She also contacted Air Canada and is waiting to hear back from them to see if they are willing to match the price. The problem is, I only have until June 9th to decide. It wouldn’t be a problem to put deposits down by then for my immediate family, but we are inviting approx 120 people. There’s no way I can get everyone who wants to come co-ordinated by then. Is this usual practice? I was under the impression that as long as we had at least 10 people for the group rate, I could hold that rate for a period of time (say at least a month) for people to make their decisions and get their deposits paid. Am I wrong on that? I thought a destination wedding would be less stressful, but I am quickly learning that it is the opposite! Help!!!!

I didn't do a group rate. Too much stress for me. We booked it through a travel agent and as long as T and I booked our room we were good to go. Unless the group rate is SIGNIFICANTLY less than what your TA is offering I wouldn't do it. Just my opinion though.

Your wedding is still months away and it is unrealistic to make your guests book so far in advance. People need to coordinate vacation schedules etc.. Besides- do you really think all 120 of your invites will attend? Don't stress yourself about all their travel arrangements. You'll go mad.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
