Paradisus Riviera Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

It was breezy and ny veil did blow around a bit. I just tucked the edge that was away from people under my arm and it was fine. that being said, my veil was waist length. That might not work if you have a really long one.

The weights sound good, but I do love the pictures with the veil blowing.

Sorry, I don't have any advice regarding the veil as I haven't done this beach wedding thing before and have no friends or relatives that have done so either...

But I do have a few questions for anyone who's been to the Paradisus - for their wedding, or visiting the resort before the big day. Unfortunately, I can't make a trip to the resort before my wedding, and I'm trying to get a feel for the atmosphere at some of the bars and restaurants at Paradisus. Can anyone tell me what the Lobby Bar is like? Is this the bar that plays live music every night? Is it a casual setting for guests to gather before going out to a more living setting, such as the Fun Pub or Disco, later in the night?

I'm also hoping to get an idea of what the Fun Pub and Disco are like for nightly entertainment... Any advice, pictures, thoughts, etc would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks! Steph

Thanks for the tips on the veils! The fish weights are a great idea!

I am 50/50 I a flower in the hair or a veil. But, I really think I would miss a veil if I didn't do it, so I think I may go with a veil that is around my fingertips (so I can hold on to like you girls suggested with the fish weights) and then take it off after the ceremony if it is too windy.

Thanks again for the info!

WOW!! I am new to the forum, and hoping to have the wedding at Paradisus Riviera...I had a whole huge list of questions to email down there and ask, and after looking through this thread almost ALL of them have been answered! You guys are great! I see this forum dramatically decreasing my productivity over the next year as I plan this wedding.... cheesy.gif

Also starting to freak out a little about how much more expensive this is going to be than I originally though...

Welcome to the forum!

There are lots of ways to save money! We are actually thinking of doing a hors d'oeuvre buffet instead of a full sit down dinner to save money. There are other ways to save money too. As far as losing productivity, can't help you there! :) Wedding planning is lots of fun! The girls are great and can answer pretty much any question you have!

Okay, I think the thing i'm most worried about at the moment is the photographer. Originally I thought I would just hire one down there, but I haven't seen many really great reviews of any down there...and I really want to have an album and prints and such done by my photog...not just digital copies...

That said, what has been anyones experience with bringing a photographer with them? Do they generally give you some kind of a deal in exchange for you paying their way for a vacation? I'd like to go talk to some around here about the idea, but want to have an idea of what the generally accepted practice for a destination wedding is before I show up sounding like a fool!

Becks...I looked at Nathaniel Thompson's site and absolutely FELL IN LOVE! I saw your pics on his Blog and they are gorgeous! Do you mind me asking what kind of a package you had worked out with him for the trip?

Thanks SO MUCH Everyone for all the information! Hopefully as I get further into the planning stages I can become helpful as well...

I LOVED having our photog there. And Nathaniel was absolutely wonderful to work with.

The package we had included 3 hours the night of our welcome dinner, all day the day of the wedding and 3 hours for TTD. We get full reprint rights and high res digital images of everything, the slide shows, plus he's going to make a book for us. You'll have to get in touch with him about pricing, because I don't know his current rates.

Good question! I am wondering the same thing. Also, how long does it take to get to Cancun for nightlife and the cost of cab/shuttle? The resort says snorkeling is part of the AI package. Are there any fees involved or do you just sign up and go? Has anyone been on a trip booked through Paradisus? It's been pretty quiet on this forum!

Sorry I've been MIA the last little while - we close on our new house at the end of this month so things have been crazy!

I don't have any advice on the Fun Pub b/c we never made it there. I would say though that it's less like a disco and more of a pub - tables with chairs and a dance floor.

The lobby bar is great - we often went there pre-show and post dinner to have a drink. It's open air concept - lots of couches and tables with waiters etc. taking drink orders.. it's a nice atmosphere - not always super quiet but a great place to just chill and relax..

In terms of Cancun - I would say it's about 20 minutes to drive - I think the cab ride is about 15 bucks although the resort offers a shuttle for free I think every morning to Cancun to shop (I will check my files tonight and let you know!)

Oh and Perla is really the best thing about the Paradisus - she is sooo wonderful about requests, emails etc. Ladies I am getting so excited!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
