Paradisus Riviera Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

We are using SWANK although I will admit that we have gone back and forth. SWANK is certainly more expensive - we booked in 2007 and so I negotiated to pay 2007 rates and for him to match what MANNIA woud give me for the same time (I basically told him he would lose my business) - Given that his rates have gone up since then (probably significantly for 2009) Mannia is probably cheaper although i don't have either pricing for 2009

Holly - If you are looking for some extra information on Carlos, you can also check out the Dreams page/forum. A lot of brides there use him (I think he is the Dreams DJ) and they have some photos and comments about Carlos). I am using him to save some money too (plus he has a light up dance floor which seemed pretty fun). smile29.gif

Has anyone used Playaweddings?

We are signed up to use them for both video and photos. I just LOVE their videos that they have posted on their website, but they don't have a lot of photos on-line.

Does anyone have any experience with them or heard anything about them?

Thanks!

Hi Ladies,

I'm trying to make my final decision on whether to use the Paradisus or not. And trying to set a date, depending on availability.

Jdelcamp and Meredith, you both have April 3, 2009 as your dates. Do they do more than one wedding a day? Or is one a typo?

So I've just spent the last couple of hours getting caught up on this thread so I apologize if I'm a little behind. (I only made it through the first 30-some pages and there are like 60!!)

I've gathered that they nickle and dime you to death, but for the most part I think every resort is going to be like that. We were originally planning on Playa, but are using DestinationWeddings.com to help w/ Travel and this Resort is in their "Circle of Love" and seemed to have some great deals. But I'm kind of nervous on how quickly everything adds up!!

I've talked to a bride from Trip Advisor and she spent $10K on everything including the Chill Out Chic package w/ about 40 guests. Does that sound about right??

I'm already freaking out about everything and I don't even have anything set yet!! You know you do all this research and then if you can't get your dates, you have to start all over. I think I'll feel better once we have something decided.

Any advice on what to go to the table w/ before we commit. Do they negotiate at all?

Thanks so much,

Erika

It is a hard decision but it does get easier. It took me five months to pick a resort. I think you are right in that every resort will offer it's advantages and disadvantages - I would find the resort you love, in your price range, and reserve a date.

Once you have that you will feel totally relieved. We were able to negotiate on everything pretty much - Dinner that we chose (each course indiv), appetizers we chose (indiv) - honestly I even want different chairs for the ceremony and reception and they have options for that too..

Does that help?

Erika - As far as I know, they only book 1 wedding a day (which is very different from the other resorts).

Jdelcamp is my fiance.

We haven't been to resort yet to work out all of the details with Perla, but from reading these blogs, this resort gets amazing reviews and we feel very comfortable and excited with having our wedding here!

I hope that helps!

Thanks Missy & Meredith!

I was a little stressed earlier after spending too much time reading and researching. I've calmed down and have now caught up on all 61 pages of posts!

Meredith how long ago did you book your date? We are waiting to hear back from our TA on availability. I was hoping for the 4th or 11th of April, |'ll just keep my fingers crossed.

And I know you'all have touched on this some and it varies by flights but does $363 per night w/ taxes for 2 people (not including flight) sound about right or not? That's what we were quoted from our TA and for it being a Resort that DestinationWeddings.com partners with, I thought we would get a better quote. Isn't April getting into the slow season...

Hopefully you'll be hearing more from me soon! I feel like I know everyone from reading all the threads :)

Hi Erika,

Decision making stinks and Missy is right that once you settle on a resort and have a date set some of the pressure eases up. I did go down and check it out but mainly becuase FI really wanted to see it before he invested in it. I was sold on it though beforehand. ( But that's cause I'm obsessed and read all 60..pgs of reviews. He didn't)

My TA is also from destinationweddings.com. What is the "circle of love"? I never heard that term. We can talk TA's but maybe we should just PM cause I feel like it would be one of these hijacked.gif I think the room rate I got was $300 for guests but.. I need to look back for sure.

I just emailed perla cause I need some info. It's my 3rd email and she told me over 1 month ago that I would have a written "something" with the things we spoke of before Elisa left the company. ( She sent me an email telling me she was leaving 2 days after I was there for my site visit!) I just feel a little lost cause we were waiting on some pricing for certain things.

Ok now I'm babbling I think. I just needed to put all this out there into the BDW Paradisus land.

Have a good night everyone.

If you want specific prices on stuff let me know!
I emailed her again. Thanks for the advice ladies. Hopefully I hear back soon. As for the pricing questions, I want to price out a whole custom package with custom menus. Hopefully it works out better than choosing a package and then changing things so they are what we want.

Hi Erika, my TA gave me a quote for 1070. If you book via the resort website its 1008. My quote included round trip airport transfer for 2 though, so 31 pp for that. Is that what it typically costs for a rt transfer? Also, Yamille, did your quote include airport transfer?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
